After arriving promptly on time, and having checked in the day prior online through ZocDoc, I waited over an hour to be taken back from the waiting room. Before then, about 45-50 minutes after I arrived, an assistant brought me backto a small administrative space. She wanted to go over the cost of the 4 fillings I was there to have done, along with another service that had been suggested at my prior cleaning, which I had explicitly not scheduled, as I didn't want the service. She asked me why I didn't want the service, clearly trying to upsell me, but finally dropped it. She then asked me to pay up front for the fillings. I told her I'd prefer to pay afterwards, but she was rather insistent, trying to guilt me by telling me they have to pay the dentists right away, and saying she was going on lunch break and wouldn't be around when I was done and wouldn't want someone else to have to deal with it, and how I could just leave afterwards, so I relented and paid. After another 20+ minutes in the waiting room, I was placed in a dentist's chair, not in a private office, but feet away from other patients with employees walking by, and waited 15 minutes for an assistant to put a bib around my neck and take a few X-Rays, then another 10 minutes for the dentist to come by and put some numbing agent on my gums then promptly walk away, then another 15 minutes for a different dentist to come and start the work. This other dentist, who I had never met before, started working on my mouth without even introducing himself (though the assistant gave his name). The two of them seemed unfocused, or didn't seem to care much, as they fumbled around, dropping tools on the ground, and spraying me (outside my mouth) with compressed air and water. After finishing two fillings, the dentist said I was all set. I asked him about the other two, and he made some half-baked comment about mouth sensitivity and thinking I should just do two today, though my mouth didn't hurt and I certainly didn't indicate that it did at any point. I told him that I had made the appointment for all four, had *paid* for all four up front (at the earlier administrators insistence) and finally the dentist who had done my cleaning, the one I made the appointment with and had expected to be doing the work, called over from the patient she was working on adjacent to me and told him to do all four, having overheard the conversation. Eventually he finished up, I left, and woke up the next morning to a big chunk of filling loose in my mouth. I'm not even sure if the cavity is sufficiently filled now, but I won't be going back there after that experience.

Dr Janet seemed nice and her staff was very nice. Clean office. Unfortunately both of the people that worked on me were “practicing” on me. The Boy that did my x-rays had to do them multiple times and then I waitedover an hour 45 minutes and the girl that was my dentist was not familiar with the equipment or how to use it. For example the gun that sprays water under your teeth was used and she soaked me down with water. She kept apologizing and I felt bad for her and made a joke about it being bad equipment to try to calm her but I was in pain and being drenched with water. She forgot to put the glasses on me and water went in my eyes, down my neck etc for over 5 minutes. I finally just ended the service after she made my whole mouth bleed , and kept having to put gauze in my mouth, while trying to use the basic metal pic. I now have scabs in between my teeth and my whole mouth hurts. They are to new to be working, and I wonder if they are even out of dental school, and were asked to help because the office is under staffed. My total time there was almost 3 hours and only about 35 minutes of that was the botched X-rays and cleaning. Yikes. Will not be back. Would not on good conscious refer anyone here

My 6 yo daughter had to have her baby tooth pulled out since the new tooth was already out... Dr. Janet Refoa was highly patient with her as she did her work and very professional. She’s also so sweet and caring especially with kids.

The dentist didn't even look at me during my first visit! The hygienist hit me with a needle on my arm and didn't stop to clean up the blood or sterilize the wound! The hygienist didn't scale my gums, even thoughI told him to pay close attention to a particular area--he only used the water jet when my gums require more.

Dr. Refoa treated me differently as soon as she discovered I was using Medi-cal. She skimped on services (mouthwash after opening my gums, Novocain during certain cutting procedures) and seemed to use as few resources as possible. The worstpart is, I ended up paying for the services I needed that my insurance didn't cover (front tooth), and she did a really sup-bar job. I mean I wasn't expecting her to give me a Jim Carey smile after, but at least a tooth that matches the shape of my other teeth would be nice. The staff was very pleasant, but Dr. Refoa's attitude changed as soon as she realized I wasn't using good insurance. As difficult as it is to trust a Dentist in the first place, this was a super disappointing experience. Why "accept" Medi-Cal patients when you don't have to? I can't wait for the glue to ware off in a couple years so I can replace it.

disappointing - a different dental lab made my dentures - i was referred to a dental surgeon for the pain that i said had from the very beginning and in the end i got my dentures but the pain is stillthere - DENTI-CAL does not cover bone surgery so all in all the only thing i got from all of this was some new over-due dentures - at least they fit -

the dentist who came to take my new denture molds was quite old but seemed to know what he was doing - so i guess its a case of old people have more experience - anyway, being old myself i amglad someone took my problem seriously now i am waiting to see the results that i hope will hold up to my opinion of the older the better experience - therefore more professional work expected not that i have anything against younger dentists - they need to get as much experience as possible from theri seniors

I can say as a child and the product of the dentistry of the 1950's, Dr. Refoa has allayed those deep seated fears, and has actually helped mefeel comfortable in the 'chair'. I like the two Dental Assistants I interacted with today. They did a thorough job, were kind, courteous and gentle. I appreciate explanations of what they're doing and why. The adjustment of the chair was done poorly, no explanation as I am adjusting you for the position to do ..... also when dentist began procedure process was not explained on each upcoming step. The abrupt staff communication is confusing andpoor. For such a upscale suite and capability a bit more process communication would go a long way. Capability a 10 meeting expectations a 7.

I love this office!!! My 9 yr old daughter is petrified of dental offices. I promised her that I would find the kindest best Dentist possible. After much research I found Dr. Refoa!!! While in the waiting room MoishDe (sorry ifmisspelled) welcomed us and said the Dr. Refoa will be with us soon. Shortly after Bianca, took X-Rays of my child and was very kind and reassuring. Then, Dr. Refoa examined her and explained to my daughter the procedure she needs, all while caressing her hand. It was a dream come true. We did not feel rushed at all, and the office felt peaceful. They even gave her a mini-canvas to paint as a gift. I am really happy to have found this dental office. Everyone was great, including the kind lady who took my paper information. My daughter said she rated them a 9 out of 10. I asked, "Why a 9?" She said because I need to work with them more to know if they are a 10!" Haha. I definitely will book an appt for myself, already did one for my husband.

Dr. Refoa has only been my Dentist for the last year, but my teeth and gums have never been healthier. Her staff are very professional, clean and they show much care and compassion for their patients. I don't usually write reviewsbut I couldn't pass up the opportunity to praise Dr. Refoa's whole office staff... From front desk to the finished crown, it had been a pleasant experience. I'm upset and feel as though I should warn people. Although I already knew the customer service was sub par, the employees seemed to really care when it came to my finances. So the second time I went in with myinsurance and was being asked to pay ridiculous amounts for basic services which I had never paid an arm and a leg for. I called my insurance and they said I should get the code for my treatments and then figure it out from there. Basically, I'm changing my dentist. They were trying to charge me double and triple what I should be paying. All I can say is just be aware of what your insurance actually covers before you go to this office.

This review is specifically directed towards the employees of Janet Refoa in the office. I've never in my life been at a business more unprofessional such as this one. I'm also not one to leave a review or be a vocalpatient/customer, but this place deserves it. My first visit should have been my first hint because I found the hygienist to be rather aggressive with how she worked (but I figured maybe it was just her and didn't look into it). I had to make a second visit and I've never been this angry when I've left an appointment. First off, there was a rotation of 4-5 people who worked on my teeth (why?). Second, the dentist himself and his assistant proceeded to complain out loud about their workload and about their co-workers for the first 20 minutes. There were 2 instances where certain tools didn't work, causing one of them to spray out water onto my face every 10 minutes of my time there. The hygienist found it to be rather funny. She then proceeded to tell me that my long hair is annoying her or that I'm too sensitive every time I flinched. I understand those might be inconveniences for her, but there is a correct and a polite way to address such things. To top it off, their work was so poorly done that I am certain I need to find a good dentist to correct it. The only good things about this location is the nice, young female receptionist and the location. I only had a minute where I met Dr. Refoa and she seems to be a kind person. I've never, ever in my life stormed out and had to tell the receptionist that I will never, ever return when asked to make an appointment in 6 months. Oh and they told me it will take 1 hour so they asked me to arrive 10 minutes before they opened as I had work in an hour, they started working on me 30 minutes late and I was 50 minutes late to work. As I was leaving, there was another angry patient yelling in the appointment room. No one should ever go there, I feel sorry for the actual owner of the practice because of her employees.
