Specializing in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, laser dentistry, and the placement of dental implants, he ensures each patient receives the highest level of care. Rochester, Dr. Starace attended the prestigious Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where he earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He continued is dental training for three more years at Stony Brook and received a specialty certificate in Advanced Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Since completing his training at Stony Brook, Dr. Starace became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (Board Certified) and has taken numerous courses and additional training in bone augmentation, soft tissue grafts, esthetic crown lengthening, and laser dentistry. Dr. Starace particularly has a particular affinity for laser dentistry and has been LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) certified for over 6 years and has successfully done over a thousand cases. In 2012, Dr. Starace joined the faculty of NYU College of Dentistry, where he has been imparting his vast knowledge of periodontology and implant dentistry to dental students and residents for over a decade. In 2025, Dr. Starace became the Program Director of the NYU Advanced Education Program in Periodontics, which is one of the largest post graduate programs in Periodontics in the country. Whether teaching hands-on various periodontal procedures and surgeries in the clinic or lecturing in the classroom, Dr. Starace has mentored countless students as they embark on their careers. His dedication to education is underscored by numerous awards for excellence in teaching and publications in academic journals.
