About Dr. John Vargas

John K. Vargas, D.D.S. received his degree from the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery. After completing his training, Dr. Vargas pursued an additional year of study at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he received extensive training in restoring implants, cosmetics and other crown and bridge procedures.
Dr. Vargas has practiced in Washington, DC, Boston and New York. He also was a clinical instructor at the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery where he had the opportunity to educate and guide the next generation of young dentists.
Dr. Vargas is an active member of the New York State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and Academy of General Dentistry. He has also volunteered for Operation Smile in Hanoi and Hue, Vietnam, where he provided volunteer dental services to disadvantaged children.
When he's not at the office, Dr. Vargas enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He loves to hike in Rockefeller State Park with his dog, try NYC restaurants, travel and play his guitar.

Dr Vargas was lovely and he was a good listener. We talked about the my issue and steps that needed to be taken (in near future). He understood where I was coming from and was not forceful or rude (when I explained that I needed some time to brainstorm about how I want to move forward ). I did, however assumed Dr Vargas would do the cleaning himself (In Australia, the dentists usually do the whole session), but it doesn’t seem the norm here? But My hygienist (Russian lady) was kind and patient . The clinic on the whole is well maintained & modern except for the “room” I had my cleaning done - the ceiling could do with some refreshing (old with some stains). Dr Vargas & team are nice and have good bedside manners.

This was my first time at the Manhattan Dental Spa and I was very impressed; the office is very nice and modern, all staff were friendly, Dr Cohen took his time to explain what was happening, and all the procedures - his beside manner was excellent, very consultative and thorough. I hate having x-rays done (I gag all over the place) but they were very patient and kind about it. When I needed to make another appointment the team quoted me costs before setting the appointment which was very transparent and appreciated. Overall the best dentist experience I've had. I would recommend it!

I was a long-time patient of Dr. Greer, whose practice is now Dr. Vargas'. I was apprehensive to see a new dentist but Dr. Vargas won me over immediately. His friendly and professional manner, his seeing me right on time and the work he did to prepare my tooth for a crown were all tip notch. I recommend him highly.

A new excellent dentist, Dr. Vagas
I had been a patient of Dr. Greer since 1989. He was an excellent dentist. I have had so much dental problems in my life, so to me, Dr. Greer was like a father of dentist. It was a nightmare when he was gone. Diny set up with Dr. Vagas. I did not think that Dr. Vagas was as good as Dr. Greer because he looks much younger. It was my mistake! Dr. Vagas is capable to practice with new technologies unlike olders and still be able to grow up.

Dr. Vargas was AMAZING!! I am a patient who is deathly afraid of dentist visits, but Dr. Vargas did everything to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. He constantly asked of my well-being during the whole procedure and, of course, his level of expertise is beyond the moon!! His professionalism and ability to make me laugh during my visit, is surely very much appreciated!! Dr. Vargas ROCKS!!
