As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Patel is highly skilled in the reconstruction and restoration of the face, mouth, and teeth. He practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with expertise ranging from wisdom tooth removal and dental implant surgery to non-invasive cosmetic treatments of the face and neck. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Additionally, Dr. Patel diagnoses and treats facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from King's College, London, and completed his residency in Oral Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He has been serving the Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago as an oral surgeon since 2002 and is now opening a downtown Chicago location as well.

Very poor bedside manner and did not explain my procedure or the aftercare well. Was very efficient but was almost too quick and just put gauze in my mouth and sent me out the door. The nurse had to replace my gauze because it was filled with blood but the doctor didn’t check my incision before leaving.

I would definitely go back to Dr. Kam Patel! Very quick, professional and helpful! Went in for a tooth extraction, was in and out of the office within 30 min INCLUDING check in. As I write this review I am 8 hours post extraction and no pain AT ALL. Just took OTC Tylenol :) Best dentist visit thus far!

He was super friendly and made me feel very at ease about getting my wisdom teeth pulled. My wisdom teeth surgery was quick and painless as it could be, the staff was very caring before when I was nervous and afterwards while I waited for my ride. My ride was a little late, so the staff helped me change my gauze and brought me to a room where I could lay down. Excellent bedside manner!

So I went in for both a consult and a tooth extraction. Everyone at the front desk is incredibly personable, friendly, and all around approachable. I got in to see Dr. Patel quickly, without a hassle. My consult was fast, he barely looked at the tooth, just kind of stuck a popsicle stick in my mouth and glanced at it. I came in to have it extracted, he had the tooth out in less than a minute. No pain. However, his bedside manner is a bit lacking. He told me, “your teeth are bad. You need to learn how to brush”. I am on a handful of medications that dry my mouth out, which unfortunately leads to decay. It felt insensitive.
I suppose I’d recommend him, but not for people who are sensitive and want a doctor who holds your hand the entire time. He was bouncing back and forth doing work in different rooms while I was being numbed, and I needed some reassurance from his assistant because he definitely didn’t give it to me.

If you want a dentist that is going to thoroughly explain procedures to you and have patience this is not the dentist for you. If you're just looking for someone who can be quick and get right in your mouth and know nothing about what is happening then see Kam. Very bad bedside manner and I'm not one to be very picky about things like that, but I expected better. I think my vet treats my dog better. Also, billing - no one explains what you're being charged for before it happens. And you pay in full upfront at the time of service.

I had visited Dr. Patel to get my wisdom teeth removed. When I visited two other oral surgeons, they had advised I was required to be put to sleep. When Dr. Patel gave me the option of having the teeth removed the same day and awake, I was relieved to get the procedure done. It took him only two minutes to remove my two wisdom teeth and costed way less than if I had to be put to sleep. It's been a day since I had the procedure done and there's extremely little pain plus I'm eating normal food again. I'm very glad I had this procedure done by Dr. Patel and highly recommend him if u want a quick painless procedure.
