Dr. Priya Balaraman, DDS, is a trusted provider of both general and cosmetic dentistry in North West Austin and the surrounding areas. With over 20 years of experience, she is deeply committed to delivering high-quality dental care and takes great pride in building lasting relationships with her patients. Her passion for dentistry remains as strong today as it was on her very first day in practice.
Dr. Balaraman earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF School of Dentistry) in 2006. Before moving to the United States, she completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) from the prestigious Tamil Nadu Medical University in India.
Born and raised in India, Dr. Balaraman brings a global perspective to her dental practice. After spending several years in California, she and her husband chose to make Austin their permanent home, drawn by the area’s natural beauty and welcoming, small-town feel. Outside the office, she enjoys family life with her husband, their daughter in high school, their son in middle school, and their lovable dog.

TLDR: Charged out-of-pocket for essential services that should have been covered by insurance.
A few things went wrong during my visit: (1) They overcharged me for the total amount out-of-pocket claiming that if insurance covers more, then they will adjust the payment later; (2) They were wrong about the insurance charge and ended up owing me a credit, which took 3 months to resolve; (3) They charged me for desensitizers out-of-pocket, which should have been covered by insurance, which I also called insurance to ask and verify; (4) the itemized receipt from the office versus what they tried to charge insurance was VERY different. The office tried charging for everything, EXCEPT for the desensitizers which even had "do not bill insurance" as part of the line item. (5) They tried to gaslight me into thinking I knowingly paid out-of-pocket for this when I initially signed the procedure, which is not true. They did not show me the itemized receipts until much later.

Was told my insurance was verified but still was charged large amount for out of pocket and was made to feel that if I did not pay the first part of the bill, I could not leave the office and would not receive treatment. Insisted on a detailed invoice and treatment plan but was not given to me nor did they go over the plan of treatment with me. On follow up, I was treated like a problematic, angry patient since again I insisted on detailed invoice of treatment. Dr. had talk with me, and although not knowing my health history, I was body shamed stating maybe I needed to get a new doctor to put me on weight loss meds. My husband had to get involved after confirming with insurance that they were charging for other things not even mentioned to me. I was finally given some reimbursement for the over payment. I honestly don't think they know how billing works.

Got cleaning done & waiting time was quick & easy. Doctors were very transparent. I was not aware of the severity before, & was not informed Vs. Pfluger Ville Dentistry made me aware of everything.

Dentist is excellent very professional. I received excellent and prompt care. The only things I saw wrong was the time it took for the caps to be main and some of the assistants were annoying - front desk was very prompt.
