About Dr. LaMont Hesselgesser

Dr. Hesselgesser was born in Provo, Utah, and is married to Maria, who is Brazilian. Together, they have two grown children and are now grandparents. He lived in both Utah and Nevada during his childhood and spent his teenage years in Weber County, where he attended Weber State University. He discovered his passion for dentistry and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University’s dental school (MCV-VCU). He enjoys dental care because it allows him to combine art and science to help his patients feel better and smile more. Since becoming a Salt Lake City dentist, Dr. Hesselgesser has worked at various practices and owned his own practice from 1995 to 2018 in Pleasant View, UT. Since 2014, he has been an associate dentist at Legacy Dental, where we feel fortunate to have him. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Utah Dental Association. Outside the office, Dr. Hesselgesser enjoys cooking, exploring genealogy, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family.

The front desk and assistants were super awesome and made sure I was comfortable. The actual dentist spent like 3 minutes out of the two hours I was there to pull my tooth with pliers - I was numb but it was just kind of jarring? They also didn’t talk to me at all about replacing the tooth with anything - I brought it up while they went over pricing with me and they said it was an option but said it like we would have to figure it out later? Idk if they just had limited time but I just thought it was super weird that replacing the tooth wouldn’t be part of the consultation and recommendations. It was nice that they were available immediately but I probably won’t go back if it’s not an emergency.
