Dr. Lawrence Velano graduated from Buffalo University School of Dental Medicine in 1999, after which he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Dental Corps. Dr. Velano served full-time in the U.S. Navy until 2003, when he was honorably discharged with medals for service. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Velano received advanced training in fixed Prosthondontics, Endodontics, Periodontal Surgery, and Exodontia at Naval Dental Center San Diego, CA, Naval Dental Center at Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD, and Naval Dental Center, Great Lakes, IL. Dr. Velano has been a member of the 1st Family Dental team since 2005.
Dr. Lawrence Velano has also completed continuing education and training in the areas of Implant Dentistry, Laser dental procedures and treatment, as well as cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Velano serves patients at our Chicago dental offices and he values the long-lasting relationships he has built with his patients and their families. He has seen his young patients grow into adults with healthy smiles and visit the office with children of their own.
In his spare time, Dr. Velano enjoys spending time with his family including his young son, as well as hiking, travel, golf and performance driving and club racing.

The upside is that you've got a true dentist doing the cleaning. The downside is that he established that I had zero cavities within 20 seconds. I'm used to a hygienist doing the cleaning and then a dentist doing a more thorough review. That said, getting an appointment is easy, and the process is quick.

As someone who is terrified of dentists (I haven't been to a dentist in 5 years), Dr. Velano and his team made the visit very comfortable and quick. I went in to get a wisdom tooth removed and not only was it painless, but it only took him 10 minutes! The team made me feel like it was family looking after me. I will be recommending Dr. Velano and his amazing team to everyone I know!

Did not like the way they cleaned my son's teeth. It was just a polish and then was told they could not scrape the plaque and tartar because his gums would bleed. I will not be going back.

I usually don't write reviews, but I felt like this dr and his staff went out of their way for me. My daughter and I both had appointments. The staff had difficulty verifying our insurance and I thought we were going to get turned away. They finally got verification for my daughter, but not me, so I told my mom (who was going to babysit during my appointment) to head home. During her appointment they got verification for my coverage. Not only did they see me, but they were very accommodating to my active energetic 5 year old. That means so much to me.....
