Dr. Lawrence Velano graduated from Buffalo University School of Dental Medicine in 1999, after which he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Dental Corps. Dr. Velano served full-time in the U.S. Navy until 2003, when he was honorably discharged with medals for service. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Velano received advanced training in fixed Prosthondontics, Endodontics, Periodontal Surgery, and Exodontia at Naval Dental Center San Diego, CA, Naval Dental Center at Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD, and Naval Dental Center, Great Lakes, IL. Dr. Velano has been a member of the 1st Family Dental team since 2003. Dr. Lawrence Velano has completed continuing education and training in the areas of Implant Dentistry, laser dental procedures, sleep medicine, and cosmetic dentistry. He has attended Implantology seminars at the University of Frankfurt in Germany and completed a surgical training program at DTI with Implant Logistics, with a focus on advanced implant placement techniques and grafting procedures. Dr. Velano serves patients at our Chicago dental offices and he values the long-lasting relationships he has built with his patients and their families. He has seen his young patients grow into adults with healthy smiles and visit the office with children of their own. In his spare time, Dr. Velano enjoys spending time with his family including his young children, as well as hiking, travel, photography, and golf.
