About Dr. Liang (Lucy) Shao
Dr. Shao went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Toronto. During her dental training, she was actively involved in student leadership through the Dental Students’ Society and participated in international outreach, volunteering in Grenada to provide dental care to underserved communities. She moved to New York to complete a General Practice Residency at NYU Langone Health (Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn), where she gained advanced training in comprehensive dental care.
Known for her compassionate and gentle approach, Dr. Shao is dedicated to creating a comfortable, patient-centered experience while delivering high-quality, personalized treatment. When not in the office, she can be found in the Pilates studio, training for half marathons or exploring new restaurants!

I went to Dr. Shao for a second opinion and decided to stay with Upper East Smile. The office is clean and modern, front desk was clear about pricing and was knowledgeable about what insurance does and does not cover. Dr. Shao was thorough and went over all my treatment options. She has great bedside manner and I will be returning for treatment.

Loved my visit from start to finish. Dr. Shao had a very soft touch that made the visit easy and stress-free!! You can tell she is highly skilled and confident, and the receptionist was very friendly as well.

Highly recommend Upper East Smiles and Dr. Shao! Office was very clean, staff was also extremely friendly. I also loved Dr. Shao explained every step clearly and I never felt pressured. If you are looking for a trustworthy dentist, Dr. Shao and this practice would be great!

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Shao at Upper East Smiles! Dr. Shao was very attentive and took her time to explain everything clearly. The entire staff was also friendly and helpful, welcoming! You can tell they genuinely care about their patients and work hard to create a positive experience. The office was also very clean and organized. I highly recommend Dr. Shao and her team at Upper East Smiles!
