“Wonderful staff and dentist! It was our toddlers first time at the dentist and they made it so easy! There was even an optional TV on the ceiling to help distract him and take some of the tension away!”

I took my 21 month old son to their office for his cavity, and the experience was traumatic. It was our first time seeing Dr Grinbaum, yet he didn’t ask a single question about my son or his teeth before went straight ahead to exam his teeth. Before the exam started, he told me son to watch the cartoon show on the ceiling. But the show was not for little kids, not to mention my son doesn’t understand English. I told Dr Grinbaum what I thought. Instead of trying to comfort my scared baby in other ways, he directed me to restrain him and forced open his mouth until the end of the exam. My son cried his heart out during the whole process. Afterwards Dr Grinbaum started talking about the options to treat my son’s tooth decay. After he explained the two different procedures, I tried to ask about possible side effects, because one of the procedures would require a general anesthesia. However, before I got a chance to express my concern, he had already moved on to talk about the insurance policies and payments. Although it had already been bad enough, the worst part of this visit didn’t happen until this point. My son kept crying after his tooth exam and it finally annoyed Dr Grinbaum’s assistant. To “make my conversation with the Doctor easier”, this young lady came to me all of a sudden, grabbed my son, took him out of my arms and walking outwards! She didn’t ask for my permission, or even say a word during the whole process. I was shocked and almost forgot to respond. When I finally realized what happened and ran towards her to take my baby back, my baby was already 10 feet away from me, crying and screaming like in hell. I had to end my conversation with Dr Grinbaum, call my husband and ask him to continue the discussion with the doctor, and go outside comforting my son. Before we left the doctor’s office, I called my husband and asked how we should care about my son’s teeth before we make a decision between the two procedures. He told me the doctor didn’t tell him anything about that. ) My attempt to calm my son also failed. He cried all the way out the doctor’s office and half way home. That’s about half an hour. Then he fell asleep out of exhaustion. ( It was not his nap time) After reading the above, you might think my son is such a crying baby. But in the matter of fact, he’s not. After seeing Dr. Grinbaum, I went home and scheduled with another pediatric dentist. So far we have seen this great doctor twice ( it might be inappropriate to share details here, so I can only say the experience was so much different) and just got silver diammine fluorite applied this morning. My son didn’t cry a single tear throughout the two visits. I asked him if he was frightened in the doctor’s office? He laughed and said no.
