He furthered his education and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University where he graduated with honors in Oral Medicine. After receiving his doctorate degree, he moved to New Jersey where he completed a one-year general practice residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and was able to work alongside attendings treating patients with special needs in the operating room as well as general dentistry. Following his general practice residency, he worked as a general dentist for a few years before realizing his passion in dentistry was to treat children by fostering a positive experience for them at the dentist. He furthered his training in pediatric dentistry by completing a two-year pediatric dental residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City where he gained experience in sedation dentistry, advanced behavior management techniques, dental trauma, and interceptive orthodontics by treating all ages from infants, children, adolescents and patients with special needs. Dr. Rao understands how treating children is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather a delicate balance of understanding, developing a relationship, and earning trust with every patient he treats. He aims to make every experience for your child at the dentist end with a smile A fun fact about Dr. Rao is that he is one of eight pediatric specialists in his extended family, but the only one who is a pediatric dentist! Dr. Rao is looking forward to meeting you and making you and your young ones eager for their next visit with him.
