About Dr. Matthew Flak

Dr Flak's office strives to combine patient comfort with technology. The office utilizes digital x-rays which are safer for the patient than traditional films, laser x-ray detection, and same day crowns using the CEREC system which uses CAD/CAM technology to make a beautiful porcelain crown in one visit. Each room has an HD television above the chair to help pass the time during your appointment and you are welcome to use the remote and wireless headphones to catch up on news, sports or HGTV. Most important is patient comfort so please let them know if there is anything they can do to improve your visit.
Dr. Matthew Flak, DDS grew up in North Canton, Ohio. After completing a degree in Microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Dr. Flak continued on to dental school at the Ohio State University where he earned his DDS degree in June, 2001. Dr. Flak practiced general dentistry in Columbus, Ohio for two years before moving to Chicago in February, 2003. Dr. Flak is a certified Invisalign® provider and enjoys creating beautiful smiles with the use of clear braces. He has trained under an accredited cosmetic dentist as well as an implant specialist and loves to use the skills he learned to place porcelain veneers, crowns and white fillings to achieve a wonderful smile or just restore teeth to their healthiest. He is dedicated to the care of his patients and enjoys studying all the new techniques and materials that dentistry has to offer in order to provide his patients the best care possible.

I’ve never had a dentist explain that because of how my insurance was he wasn’t making much money off me. Not very professional there. My first experience was great and I was impressed. In my second, I had to have a cavity filled and he questioned me needing more pain killers before drilling even though I am highly aware of this. On my last visit I discussed that I had had to cancel an appointment last min (still within 10 hours) and would like my late fee waved since I was quite sick. I understand polices exist for a reason but instead of just saying this he launched into a long explanation of how my insurance wasn’t paying him much so he wasn’t making much off me anyway. I will never go to this dentist again and would recommend other not go as well.

Setting up an appointment was incredibly easy. I recommend filling everything out ahead of time electronically (save paper) on here,the HIPAA paperwork is signed in person. I'm a new patient but my husband has seen them a few times already. I should have switched over sooner!
Their front office staff is very kind and professional. It's a very clean and organized office. Even though I was late to my appointment... I was still seen very quickly! I'll be early moving forward!
I had just gotten a deep cleaning from a different location (no relation to Dr. Flak's office) the day before and wanted to get a second opinion on a couple of things I was told by that previous Dentist. Turns out my deep cleaning by the previous Dentist wasn't that great... I was able to see from the x-rays taken at Dr. Flak's office, quite a bit of plaque left in very visible spaces that would be very easy to remove (front teeth) but for some reason weren't, as well as calculus. I know gross... He was kind enough to remove the junk left behind! Him and his staff are very honest and do indeed have their patients best interest at heart. Everything was explained thoroughly and I appreciate that very much as the previous office seemed more concerned about taking the most out of my wallet when...
There is always someone there who can answer any questions you might have. I've spoken to Serena the last couple of times and she's been very informative and checked our dental insurance prior to my husband's appointment. I look forward to my next visit and being a long time patient!

I really like Dr. Flak, but the cleaning I had today was super painful. My gums are pretty cut up and my mouth is sore, it hurts to chew, etc. Never had that happen before from just a cleaning.

I went for a general 6-month cleaning and had a great experience. Everyone is very professional, but also nice. I like the windows that look out into the city. They also have TV's that you can watch while you get your teeth cleaned.

Great bedside manner and worked very quickly! I really enjoyed working with him. The hygienist was very rough with my teeth, and it hurt quite a bit when she was working on my teeth. I really enjoyed the x-ray equipment they used, not at all clunky. Very cool to get the x-rays while sitting right in the chair.

Unlike previous dentists, I had a great experience here this morning. I arrived at 7:59am for an 8am appointment. They only made me fill out one small privacy form b/c they had all my info from Zocdoc. I was taken into the chair within 3-4 minutes. The hygienist and the doctor were very nice, did quick work and had me on my way in 45 minutes total. I'll definitely be back.
