About Dr. Matthew Rice

Dr. Matthew Rice was born in Greer, SC. He attended Southside Christian School from K-5 through twelfth grade. Matt went on to attend the Medical University of South Carolina to earn his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. Prior to starting dental school, Matt was awarded the highly competitive Health Professions Scholarship through the US Army. Matt completed a year-long residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Fort Carson, CO where he broadened his knowledge and skill set. Following his residency program, Matt joined the 4th Infantry Division in Fort Carson, CO as a Brigade Dentist. Matt was honored to train and deploy with his unit to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019. Matt’s next assignment was with the Dental Health Activity at Fort Stewart, GA. Matt and his team were responsible for delivering dental care to the soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart. Following the completion of his commitment in the US Army, Matt and his family were excited to return home to the Upstate of South Carolina. Dr. Rice and his wife, Kari, have three children: Owen, Max, and Emma. They love spending time outdoors and enjoying all that the Upstate has to offer. Some of Matt’s interests include hiking, skiing, running, coffee, new restaurants and spending time with family and friends.
