About Dr. Matthew Young
Matthew R. Young, DDS, originally from Buffalo, New York, attended The Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree graduating with honors.
After dental school, Dr. Young entered the Albert Einstein Medical Center residency program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here he won the prestigious Lebby award for Outstanding Resident of the Year.
After the residency program, Dr. Young practiced in the Philadelphia area for seven years, providing the optimum in patient care. He is active in many national and local dental organizations and serves as an attending clinician at the Albert Einstein Medical Center residency program.
Outside of the office, Dr. Young volunteers in San Francisco with California Dental Association Cares, Give Kids a Smile and Project Homeless Connect, where he gives people looking to get back in the workforce new smiles and renewed confidence. He is also proud to have served as the President of the San Francisco Dental Society. Abroad, he works with Operation Smile and teams up with other healthcare providers to turn children's lives around.

I got weird vibes from the place before they even saw my teeth they were setting me up on a treatment plan, so already expecting me and setting me up to have more work done. Dentist said I needed two cavities filled right away. Later with the receptionist setting up my next appointment, I now have three cavities being filled. Lots of pressure to get other worked done as well. Place gave me let’s make money vibe, not let’s help people.

This is the first time I have written a ZacDoc review for anyone but it is deserving. I had nothing but great experiences while going to see Dr. I. Cheng Her team was great and she did a great job explaining everything that she was doing and listening to what I had to say. She kept me calm during all my procedure she answered all of my questions. After seeing many different dentists I can say that Dr. Cheng and her team are the best I have seen and I will continue to go there and would highly recommend them to anyone. Dr. Cheng is a caring dentist who ensures patient's best course of treatment are well explained and executed as a lifetime event.

Dr. Cheng is amazing :) Love her so much. She was professional, fun, and gave me very on-point information about my filling (that was a bit high, so she polished it down for me). Dr Young seems to be a very competent dentist and his assistants are very chill and professional too. I didn't undergo any procedures, just went in for an initial consultation, so I can't comment on the quality of his work, just my experience meeting him.

Dr Van and the staff were great. Walked me through everything that needed to be done and while procedures were being done, so nothing was ever a surprise. They were were receptive to my disclaimer that I have sensitivity, so they made sure to ask if I was feeling okay throughout my appointment. They were also very transparent about my costs. I highly recommend this office and Dr Van.

Dr. Young and all the staff were very genuine and personable. They put me at ease and I enjoyed interacting with them during the appointment. Something that I thought was a really nice feature was that they have a computer screen pulled up next to the patient chair so you can see all the x-rays and pictures that they are taking and both the hygienist and Dr. Young took the time to go through them and explain to me what we were seeing. I really appreciated it that because often the dentist just does their thing and you don't know what's going on and are awkwardly trying to see what is happening on the screen. Here they just put it right in front of you, and make sure you understand exactly what is happening, which is super helpful for understanding your situation and how to take care of yourself. Transparency from the medical profession! It's great.

I consider myself to have dental anxiety, and hadn't been to a dentist in a number of years as a result (like, an embarrassingly long time!). So I was incredibly appreciative of just how nice and warm the folks at Dr. Young's clinic are. I felt informed, was treated an cleaned for 2 hours, and left with a comprehensive breakdown of my options and payment plans. I went in feeling nervous, and left feeling confident, clean & empowered. Can't recommend highly enough!

It's a postoperative follow up after my three wisdom teeth extraction (all complete boney impacted). My Appt was at 3pm, but they set me right in when I arrived almost an hour early. Everything seems fine, still need more time for the surgical site to completely heal. Dr. young is great and friendly; he answered all my concerns.

I went in for a cleaning & regular check up. The office sent a few emails ahead of time for confirmation & requesting some information, which was great. Everyone there was very friendly & professional - the cleaning was great and Dr. Young is professional and takes the time to explain what he's seeing with photographs / and or x-rays. I'd absolutely recommend them.

I didn't feel comfortable in the office what so ever.
The office didn't seem as sanitary as other dental professionals I've seen. I didn't see the dentists wipe down their hands with sanitizer and most of the equipment wasn't covered in easy-wipe down plastics or one-use disposable plastics.
Dr. Young made me quite uncomfortable. He wouldn't look me in the eyes as I spoke and wasn't very clear on anything he said and just sort of hovered around me. I was going in for an emergency surgery, all he did was an examination and effectively told me to come back later. I will never go back to that office,

I've had many dentists before as I travel a lot - I was never treated that well for cavities - and believe me I had a lot of cavities. The most careful/professional/helpful dentist I ever had. Too bad I don't live in SF!

I was really pleased with the experience. The staff were great. I was able to submit all of my documents online before the visit so when I arrived, I sailed right into my exam room. They saw me right away, gave me the first no pain x-ray experience I'd ever had, and performed a fast and thorough cleaning. I'm thrilled I've found Dr. Young and his team.

I just don't think a root canal should be so difficult. I've been very patient with them but I've been reading reviews on Yelp to find people with problems with him as well. It sounds like his treatment has dramatically ruined their lives. It hasn't been so extreme with me but I will be consulting other dentists and not going here anymore.

Dr. Young is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I've been there three times- once for a check up, once for a cleaning, and once to get fillings. He is very careful and gentle, and everyone at the office is friendly and welcoming. Couldn't have chosen a better place to go. I highly recommend him!
