About Dr. Michael Dounel
Dr. Michael Dounel is a native of Los Angeles, CA. He attended the prestigious Boston University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). Upon completing his residency in Brooklyn, NY, along with many years of dental and postdoctoral training in cosmetic and oral surgery, he was eager to return home. His goal was to create a comfortable resource to fulfill the cosmetic and structural dental needs of people who want to improve their image, confidence, and life.
Dr. Dounel firmly believes the old saying, "A smile says a thousand words!" For many of his patients, it’s as if they are smiling for the first time. His passion is changing his patients’ frowns into magical, bright smiles! Dr. Dounel shares, "I am passionate about what I do because I see every day how it changes their outlook on life! I did not feel welcomed. I asked to use the restroom as doc sat looking down at something and he said go for it without looking up. I had to be like um, where is it. He was also cursing at the receptionist

Dr. Michael appeared to care only about insurance and payment rather than patient care. My appointment was confirmed the previous day, and I was told one hour was allotted for my visit. On the day of the appointment, he stated there were other patients and not enough staff to perform the cleaning, and said that if I couldn’t wait an additional two hours, he couldn’t do anything. Whenever I asked questions, he seemed unhappy and acted as if I were receiving a free service instead of paying for proper care. I will also need to see if I am charged for the cleaning The overall experience felt unprofessional, dismissive, and disrespectful of my time.

Awful experience. No transparency on fees. They take advantage of customers. They will not call me back or release my x-rays. They overcharged and never disclosed the fees. Honestly the worst dental experience of my life.

They lied about being in-network. Then they charged a ridiculously high amount to my insurance without my authorization. Do not trust this practice. Furthermore, they refused to respond to me and will not release my x-rays despite the fact that they charged a fortune.

Terrible experience. They are not in-network even though they advertise that they are. The did not disclose the fees and grossly overcharged me. Would never go to them again.

I did not get the service done that I booked, which was a deep cleaning. I had insurance, however when we discussed Invisalign instead of waiting to see how much my insurance would cover, he ran a check to see if I would qualify for a loan instead.
I’ve never had that happen, especially since I have pretty good insurance. I will not be going back there.

I was in so much pain when I arrived. I was seen properly. Even though my insurance didn't cover he tried to work with me on a plan that would help me. Very nice doctor and assistant. I am going to try to get regular Delta Dental just so I can go back.

I really wish I could upload a picture of my before and after smile! I have always been terrified of going to the dentist. Dr. Dounel change my experience forever. Throughout my first visit, he answered every question in detail, and so patiently! Everything was done so painlessly, and quick. Office staff are so kind and professional, and Warm!

Came to Dr Dounel for my cosmetic work. He completed my veneers . When I tell you, I get multiple compliments a day on my smile, I’m not exaggerating. His work is perfection. During my consultation he was so thorough, detailed, and patient. His staff is also very caring.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Dounel and his amazing dental office! I initially came in with excruciating pain, and he was there for me during an emergency. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how professional, gentle and detailed he was in his approach.
The office itself is so clean and modern, which instantly put me at ease. After my emergency visit, I decided to return for a complete cosmetic makeover and a full tune-up of my mouth. I am thrilled with the results! Dr. Dounel's work is nothing short of excellent and exceptional.
To top it all off, the prices were very affordable, making it easier for me to get the care I needed without breaking the bank. If you're looking for a skilled and compassionate dentist, Dr. Dounel is wonderful!

I had a very positive experience going to new smile dental, which is surprising because I normally hate going to the dentist. The appointment was seamless and I had an easy time booking my appointment and I didn’t have to wait very long. Dr. D was really warm and seem to care a lot about my satisfaction. I’ll be back for my cleaning in the future and would definitely trust him again for cosmetic work I need done

Front desk was very welcoming and organized. Office is super clean, and cozy. Dr. Dounel was very thorough, patient, and fast. Everything was pain-free. My dental work looks incredible, and I didn't feel it at all!
