Everything was taken care of properly. I also received answers to a few questions which had come to me since my last visit.

I felt like this office was more focused on selling me expensive products than treating my actual medical needs.

Dr. Landy trys to upsell everything so much so that you can't trust anything he says. I won't be going back.

I went in for a routine biannual cleaning. I was charged extra for two things without being consulted: (1) oral cancer screening, and (2) fluoride. They also charged me to use a water pick instead of the normal metal scraper (I think they called it the "sonic" option).
I've been to my share of dentists and haven't ever been upcharged either without my consent or for access to the water pick (though I've often been upcharged to use fluoride, this has always been *with my consent*). This was also by far my fastest dentist appointment. The whole thing took about 20 minutes. Usually I appreciate speed but this was suspiciously too fast (and the teeth scraping hurt a lot more than usual, probably because he did the whole thing in under 5 minutes).
I also asked for them to clean my Invisalign retainer and they said that would cost extra (at least they warned me on this one) so I went without it.

i felt very unwelcomed coming into the office- from the receptionist who doesn’t seem like they want to be there to the dental assistant who worked with me- she wasn’t friendly. if you have a baby or child, wouldn’t recommend bringing them along. i had not much of a choice and I really wanted to be seen as I haven’t been to the dentist in awhile. We did have to end the appointment early and I was told that I’d receive a dental treatment via email and we’d go from there but i’ve yet to receive anything which makes me feel like they wouldn’t want me to come back. although the dentist was nice- would not recommend.

office staff friendly but dentist has been difficult to book with certainty.
limited providers for insurance keeps him as the option close by

The receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. She also didn’t accurately apply my insurance and insisted I didn’t understand how my insurance worked. I paid 240 dollars for the visit when I should have paid less than 50. After discussing with my insurance they informed me that I was correct. I called the office back and the same rude receptionist answered and was hostile and belittling. After a lot of back and forth she finally accepted that she had made a mistake and refunded my card. The dentist himself was fine but the experience with his staff was horrible.

Charged extra for things that have always been covered under my insurance in the past. This seems to be a trend based on other reviews. Left feeling nervous about a lump that was "probably fine" according to the dentist and w/out feeling like I got a thorough teeth cleaning.

Dr. Landy is definitely the best dentist I have ever seen. Super knowledgeable and professional. I’ve clearly been going to amateurs up until now. The only downside is that there were quite a few unexpected charges associated with my visit - he has a fancy cleaning machine that insurance doesn’t cover for routine cleanings, he has a fee for PPE, etc.

Office was small space and rather crammed- my cleaning was not very thorough and I felt that I was being sold and billed for elective procedures that I didn’t require at the time of my visit.

The office is outdated and has a foul smell (as if they have a problem with their plumbing). I have doubts he dental assistant's hygiene--she kept reaching into a tight space to throw things away, and I can't imagine she didn't touch the garbage can at least once. The dentist kept pressuring me into additional procedures (I just went in for a cleaning).
Without asking if I had recent x-rays, they just went ahead with them (I didn't really care about the x-rays because they were covered)
Likewise, they pressured me into an ultrasonic cleaning without explaining the benefits or drawbacks compared to a traditional cleaning. The dentist performed the procedure himself, which seemed to largely consist of him haphazardly jabbing my gums for a couple of minutes. There was still visible plaque on my teeth once he finished.
He then suggested spending hundreds of dollars more on additional treatments. I'll consult with another dentist to see if they're necessary and, given the attention to detail I experienced at his office, will certainly go elsewhere to have any work done.

I’ll copy and paste my google review - I had my first visit today, and was looking forward to establishing a new dentist since moving to the area. From the minute Dr. Landy walked into the room, I felt like a burden to be there. He charged me for services that used to be free at other offices (maybe due to my new dental coverage, i’m not sure). And I ended up with a nice hefty bill when I left. Had I read the reviews before going, I would have known to expect that. However, this isn’t the worst part. As someone who has always had sore gums and gum pain, he did a “deep cleaning” treatment which left a decent amount of blood in my mouth and a single tear in my eye. In an attempt to ask the doctor a question regarding flossing, I was told I was being “emotional.” I reworded my question (Every time I floss, for months, my gums bleed to the point I can no longer floss- I was hoping to ask how I could change what i’m doing to be gentler on my gums) and was told to “stop being so dramatic.” I have never felt more uncomfortable and disrespected. As a fellow health care provider, I am appalled that he showed such poor professionalism. I will not be returning.
His response to this was that he was trying to “lighten the mood,” and “make me feel more comfortable.” I do not find calling someone emotional and dramatic as “comforting.”

After a particularly painful cleaning by the dentist in which he rushed and kept stabbing my gums with a sharp instrument, I spit out a bowlful of blood then told him that it was painful. His curt response was that because I had waited 7-8 months since my last dentist appt, the cleaning was just going to be harder. (What? 7-8 months is not that long to go between appointments. 6 months is the recommended time.) I have never had such a painful cleaning, even after 2 years of not seeing a dentist. Then, not recognizing that the pain I just experienced and his poor response were NOT going to set me up to be receptive to be sold anything, he proceeded to first try to sell me a mouth guard that was hundreds more than my last dentist quoted. He then tried to sell me Invisalign braces, claiming that doing that first would improve the work of the mouth guard. I told him I wasn’t interested in anything cosmetic, and he told me that the INVISALIGN braces weren’t cosmetic and that they don’t “align” but they would help my mouth guard work better. Well, “align” is in the name of the product, and they are supposed to be a substitute for regular braces, and he says they won’t “align” my teeth? What I heard was so ridiculous I laughed out loud. I will not return.

I really didn’t like this experience. They didn’t even floss my teeth and it just seemed like an old building. The wait was long and the Dentist didn’t seem caring.
October 25, 2018Dominique C.Verified patient
The front office staff was very pleasant and I only waited 5 minutes that to be seen... That is the only good thing about my visit.
The hygenist did not introduce themselves nor tell me what they were going to do to my mouth, before they asked me to open my mouth and started polishing my teeth. I knew this was part of the appointment, but I didn't even know this person's name, nor was I sure what they were actually doing to my mouth since I wasn't told beforehand.
When the dentist came in, he did introduce himself, so I thought this was going to be better. However, after examining my teeth and letting me know that grinding and malalignment we're causing some of my pain he tried to sell me on Invisalign. When I told him I was already scheduled to see an orthodontist, and that I've had three orthodontists tell me I'm not a candidate for Invisalign, he proceeded for the next 15 minutes,to tell me that I should do Invisalign. Finally, he started to examine my teeth and did a cleaning.... then gave me a flyer about Invisalign and started to talk about it again even after I told him that I couldn't afford it, and that I was not interested. To appease him, and to stop the conversation to get out of there, I took the flyer and said "okay I will think about it and follow up with you." To make it even worse, the dentist belched beside me didn't even say excuse me, and then just proceeded like nothing happened. I've since found another Primary Care dentist, and will not be revisiting this provider, nor recommending this office to my colleagues.

Dr. Landy is incredibly pushy when it comes to recommending products and this feels unethical. Further, his billing department has caused me numerous headaches as they do not keep good records and are very hard to reach. Probably would never go again.

It took an hour before I was taken to the back...and then an additional 20 minutes before the hygienist actually began work. The hygienist spent 30 minutes [0 exaggeration] x-rays of my mouth another 10 minutes passed before the dentist came in to clean my mouth. He rushed through the cleaning [wasn't thorough at all]. When he was finished, he then proceeded to attempt to sell me services that I did not need for my mouth.
Save your time...this dentist felt like a scam artist and extremely unprofessional. Would not recommend!

Dr. Landy is an excellent and compassionate dentist, who is both highly knowledgeable and genuinely kind and likeable (excellent "chair-side" manner). His team, similarly, is both competent and caring, and reflects what is clearly an overall commitment to patient care.

I thought the prep time wouldn't be long since I filled out everything online but it was still a 20min wait before they were ready for me. The assistants were friendly. Dr. Landry was nice, but I didn't like how he sprung a cancer exam on me last minute. I would expect something like that to be offered when I walked in and set up everything with the receptionist, not when I'm in the chair and have no time to consider whether I really needed this exam that "may or may not be covered by my insurance" as Dr.Landy puts it. The fee wasn't too high so not a big deal but I got the feeling of being put on the spot.

The dentist saw me right away and did a good job explaining what was going on with my teeth and what I could do about it. He also looked into whether my insurance would cover certain procedures, which I really liked because most doctors would defer that task to the billing department.

Do not go to Dr. Landy. A first time patient, I went in for a cleaning. The receptionist was incredibly rude. They double-booked the time slot and obviously rushed through my appointment. When I met Dr. Landy he didn't even introduce himself and was extremely brusque. He told me that I needed follow up work. Then I received a treatment plan outlining the follow-up procedures in the mail and what the charges would be. Conveniently, he planned them in such a way that nothing was covered by my insurance and would incur significant expense to me. When I called my insurance to inquire about this, they told me that the procedures he described in the office are usually billed in another way that would be 100% covered with 0 expense to me out of pocket. When I called Dr. Landy's office to ask why they were charging these in this way and if I could be billed in a way that would allow my insurance to cover the work, the staff person started rambling on about how my insurance carrier always fights claims and complaining that my plan reimburses them significantly less than other plans. Then she said if I wasn't willing to go along with their scheme, which to me is nothing short of thievery, then I could just find another dentist. It was a disgusting and shameless attempt to rob me of nearly a month's rent (by DC standards), so of course I will be following her advice and getting a new dentist.
