About Dr. Monica Urda
Born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Monica Urda received the Trustee Scholarship from Loyola University to study biology. A recipient of the Mulcahy Award as well as the Pre-Dental Award, she graduated cum laude from Loyola and spent the following four years at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Afterward, she completed post-graduate coursework in endodontics, dental implants, CAD-CAM technology, esthetic restorations, and Invisalign.
In 2013, Dr. Urda joined a large group practice on the southwest side of Chicago. Through her expertise, calm, confident manner, and engaging personal touch, she quickly became a favorite doctor among the patients at the large and busy clinic.
Dr. Urda now brings her dedication to excellence and personal approach to dentistry to her own practice, Smile Science Chicago in Wicker Park. Whether for a routine visit or a more complex procedure, Dr. Urda respects each patient's right to a detailed discussion of any treatment needed. She takes the time to explain procedures, answer all questions, and alleviate any concerns. Then, the Smile Science Chicago staff works to implement Dr. Urda's treatment plan within the schedule and budget of each patient.
A resident of Chicago's north side, Dr. Urda has been an active member of the community as a volunteer with Give Kids a Smile Day, Smiles for the Future Day, Head Start Day, and Mission of Mercy Day. She is committed to continued lifelong learning to bring the most advanced techniques in dentistry to her patients.

Going to Smile Science was like walking into a luxury hotel. The lobby is furnished with modern furniture and the front desk staff does an excellent job of making me feel welcome with a friendly greeting. Mari was my hygienist and she was very knowledgeable and walked me through her step-by-step process. Dr. Monica Urda was very personable and she was very accommodating in staying longer to help me fix my tooth. She was very thorough in her procedure for my crown.

I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to dentist visits, but the staff here was so accommodating. The hygienist took it super slow, gave me lots of breaks to kind of reset and didn't make me feel bad for being such a baby lol. The doctor was kind but to the point, which I also appreciated. I had an excellent experience. I haven't been to a dentist in far too long. I was nervous and embarrassed. No one that I encountered made me feel bad. Everyone there was so kind and welcoming. And bonus, they have a tv on the ceiling for you to watch during the cleaning which is a fun addition.

Love Dr. Urda! She has a great bedside manner and makes me feel super comfortable. Always listens to my issue and doesn't try to push treatment that isn't immediately necessary (i.e. getting wisdom teeth pulled or cavities filled) when I'm not ready or able to do so.

LOVED my experience with Dr. Monica and her staff. I haven't been to a dentist in something like 8 years (personal stuff)....I had a fair amount of anxiety about the state of my mouth. But Reina and Dr. Monica made me feel at home, answered all of my dumb questions, and used really cool technology to show me what my teeth are looking like. Dr. Monica is super chill, very reassuring and obviously knows her stuff. Booking was super easy and I can tell they were setting me up for long term success. I'd recommend Dr. Monica and staff to any of my friends or family. Yay for finally taking care of my teeth again!

If you’re looking for a new dentist I highly recommend Smile Science Chicago! The staff is super friendly and they take good care of you and make sure you’re comfortable the entire time. The process of making an appointment was super easy and they checked my dental insurance benefits for me. If there’s anything treatment wise outside of a normal check up they discuss a treatment plan with you along with what to expect cost wise. Melanie was my dental hygienist and she was absolutely wonderful! Dr. Urda was also great. Just because I feel like it’s worth noting, there are friggin TVs on the ceiling and you can watch whatever you want on Netflix while you get your teeth cleaned so....10/10 recommend, look no further.

Dr Urda has been my dentist for the last 3 years, and has been nothing but warm and sweet, thorough, helpful, and comforting. One weekend I had a REALLY bad toothache and had to call the emergency line after hours, and left a voicemail. she got back to me only 10 minutes after and listened to my symptoms and set up an appointment with me for the next office day! I felt very taken care of!

Was recommended by a coworker. They were able to see me the same day (30 minutes earlier than my scheduled appointment even!) to take a look at a wisdom tooth issue and to get a thorough cleaning. They alleviated my wisdom tooth pain, walked me through everything, and referred me to an oral surgeon. My dental insurance is expiring and they were able to get everything taken care of today, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it. They also have super affordable in-office plans for people in between or without dental insurance. Totally recommend!

I’ve been going to Dr. Urda for over a year now. I’ve had to have several procedures (root canals, fillings, crowns, etc) that would usually be painful and uncomfortable. Dr. Urda is very gentle and very knowledgeable. Whenever I’ve had something significant done, the office calls just to make sure I’m okay. On the rare instances that I have unexpected pain, or a temp crown falling out, they are always able to see me either that day or the next. For procedures I’ve had to go to a specialist for, she’s recommended me to fantastic doctors in my network. Once I had an emergency procedure done by a different dentist because it was outside of her office hours and I need immediate care. That dentist cause several other problems that Dr Urda fixed, some for which she didn’t even charge me for because she felt bad that the other dentist didn’t provide adequate care, and then reassured me that if I ever was in that situation again to call her emergency line and she would figure out a way to get me the care I need or to a proper dentist. She’s really just the best. And the TV’s on the ceiling are a great distraction and help make the appointment much more enjoyable. Will never go to another dentist.

Honestly, the best dentist experience I've ever had. Dr. Urda and her hygienist were super friendly and chill. I got to watch Bob's Burgers during my cleaning. 10/10 would recommend.
