About Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan

Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan is an experienced and highly accomplished orthodontist. As he practices orthodontics, he also enjoys teaching as a full tenured associate orthodontic professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and serves as a Diplomate for the American Board of Orthodontics. He began his education at the Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (1993), Certificate in Clinical Science – Periodontology (1995) and Masters of Science in Periodontology (1996). He continued his education at the Eastman Dental Institute in London, England where he received his Masters of Science degree in Periodontology (1997). Dr. Atsawasuwan went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete his Ph.D in Oral Biology (2008) and his postdoctoral degree in Biochemistry (2003). At the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Atsawasuwan received his Masters of Science degree in Oral Sciences (2011) and his certificate in Orthodontics (2011). Dr. Atsawasuwan entered into the field of orthodontics because the end goal is to improve a patients’ dental and jaw relationship as well as their smile and appearance. Both adolescent and adult patients always seem to have a big smile, full of confidence, at the end of their treatment which is the most rewarding part of Dr. Atsawasuwan’s job. Dr. Atsawasuwan enjoys research and learning more about the field of dentistry and orthodontics. He is also a notable author and has prepared an extensive list of articles and research that have been reviewed by his peers at various educational meetings throughout his career.
