About Dr. Randall Smith

I have practiced dentistry since 1978 and now, while many of my friends are retiring from dentistry and other professions, I am still passionate about what I do. I attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst for my Bachelor of Science and pre-dental studies. I graduated magna cum laude and was nominated to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. I attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington, DC, where I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Remaining at Georgetown, I completed additional specialty training in functional jaw orthopedics. One of the most fascinating aspects of dentistry, I find, is how much the practice has changed over the years. Ongoing research leads to new methodologies, technologies, and materials, as well as improvements in diagnostics, patient experience, and results. I stay current on the latest advancements in general dentistry, along with pursuing additional specialty training. Each year I complete many hours of continuing education, attending conferences, lectures, and seminars, and participate weekly in webinars and other courses. I am an active member of American Dental Association and Massachusetts Dental Association, and a Master in the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. These organizations offer a multitude of options for me to advance my skills and knowledge. Over the years I have completed advanced training in: endodontic therapy (root canals); periodontics (gum therapy); TMJ-TMD (jaw dysfunction); and cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry. This continual learning ensures I can provide patients the best dental experience, using ideal materials and procedures, for the healthiest, most aesthetically pleasing results.
