Dr. Kurlan is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Upon graduation, he enlisted for a two-year tour of duty in the United States Air Force. In the Air Force, he obtained the rank of captain and was stationed in Northern Michigan near the city of Sault Saint Marie as a dental officer. After his two-year tour with the Air Force, Dr. Kurlan returned to his home state of New Jersey. He has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years and enjoys all phases of the field. His main objective is to help his patients keep their teeth for a lifetime with no discomfort in a relaxed atmosphere. Dr. Kurlan is a 38-year member of the American Dental Association and serves as a delegate of the New Jersey Dental Society. He is also a member of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, the Newark Dental Club, the Essex County Dental Society, and the Bear Brook Study Club. Dr. Kurlan is married to his wonderful wife, Helene, and has three daughters: Michelle, Lori, and Melissa. He loves traveling and has an extensive ancient coin collection.
