While serving as Chief Dental Officer of a USPHS Clinic in San Pedro, California, for two years, Dr. Howard had a significant impact on the next generation of dentists. He taught IV sedation at UCLA’s Pedodontic Department, specifically training students to provide safe and effective dental care for children who need extra care. He also worked as an Associate in a private practice in Huntington Beach, California. For 29 years, starting in the spring of 1978, Dr. Howard provided consistent dental care to the community near Monterey, California, at the same practice location. He developed a large and successful practice, employing 12 people and 4 hygienists. He was known for his expertise in endodontics (root canal therapy) and cosmetic dentistry and also performed complex procedures such as impacted wisdom teeth extractions and periodontal surgeries. Dr. Howard employs the well-regarded Thermafill endodontic system, a technique that facilitates efficient root canal procedures, contributing to patient comfort and shorter treatment durations.
