About Dr. Shannon Vail
Dr. Shannon (Burke) Vail is a Baltimore native, born and bred in Timonium where she spent most of her time either on the sports field or in the classroom. She culminated her collegiate lacrosse career as Team Captain and a Division I First Team All-American. She was awarded a scholarship from the United States Navy to attend the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, from which she received her D.D.S. degree in 2018.
Upon graduation, Dr. Vail completed her residency year at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and continued her service in Norfolk, VA. During this time, Dr. Vail was able to further develop and refine her skills and capabilities while providing extensive dental care to a pool of over 30,000 patients. During her final year of military service, Dr. Vail served as the solo dentist on one of the Navy’s large amphibious ships, providing quality comprehensive care to over 1,200 sailors.
Dr. Vail met her husband, RT, while at the University in Maryland and the couple married in the fall of 2017. After relocating and reviving Dr. Vail’s childhood home in Timonium in the summer of 2023, they now live there with their daughters Burke and Emery and their son Callan (“CJ”). The busy family of five enjoys spending their time playing outside, going for walks around the neighborhood and attending local events and classes on the weekends.

My visit was just wonderful. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of their way to help me. I highly recommend! I came home chattering excitedly at my husband about it, and he thought I was a bit odd for coming back from the dentist in such a good mood.

From start to finish, my experience was amazing. I spoke to Sabrina on the phone beforehand, and she was incredibly helpful with explaining my insurance coverage and what to expect—super reassuring since I wasn’t sure what would be covered. On the day of my appointment, I was welcomed warmly. The X-rays went smoothly, and the technician was very patient and understanding. Marissa, the hygienist, did an exceptional job—thorough, gentle, and kind. The doctor I saw exceeded all my expectations—professional, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely at ease. I can confidently say this will be my dentist for as long as I’m in Baltimore. Highly recommend!

I have a terrible fear of the dentist due to childhood trauma, however the team here listened to my concerns and cared for me so well. They were able to also extend my visit with them to get more completed than planned. This was truly a changing experience for me- I sat in the chair with sweating palms and shakes and left laughing and calm, feeling confident in the plan they made for me- with bright, shining and clean teeth! I cannot thank this team enough.

This practice is one of the best?? The staff from reception to the dentist was very friendly and cared about how you felt in the space. They make your visit very comfortable and Dr. Vail listen to YOU and that is definitely a plus for me. The pricing was good too and they take care of everything dental.
