About Dr. Shauna Fung
Dr. Shauna Fung is the Board-Certified Orthodontist behind Nexus. Shauna grew up feeling self-conscious and insecure because she had crooked teeth. As a result, Dr. Shauna didn’t like to smile, and it impacted her self-esteem and emotional health. After her orthodontic treatment, she realized how much confidence it gave her. It was a feeling that she never forgot. It inspired and motivated her to want to bring that kind of confidence and self-assurance to others, which is why she first went into dentistry and orthodontic care.
The decision to go into orthodontic care was a decision that meant Dr. Shauna would be working through school for much longer than the standard dentistry track. After she completed her undergraduate degree, Dr. Shauna received her DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) at New York University’s College of Dentistry, Dr. Shauna was focused on her goals - to empower people and to bring out the best versions of people to build their confidence. She felt that she could do more.
So, she took the extra step beyond general dentistry. Dr. Shauna was accepted into the highly competitive CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) Accredited Orthodontic Program at Montefiore Medical Center, which would give her three years of intensive training for her to practice as an Orthodontist. Additionally, Dr. Fung is a Board Certified Orthodontist - a certification which only 33% of orthodontists in the country have.

I went to Nexus for a consultation appointment and I was really impressed. The office is sleek and modern, but also welcoming at the same time. You won't feel like you're in one of those typical factory-like offices (one in, one out). Dr. Fung recommended her treatment plan with different options in detail, answered all my questions/concerns and not once did I feel pressured to start treatment right away. I'd definitely recommend Nexus Orthodontics.

I can’t recommend Dr. Fung and the team at Nexus enough. I went in for a consultation, I felt welcomed, cared for, and genuinely listened to. What makes this office stand out is the way they make the process feel personalized and stress-free. Dr. Fung took time to explain every step and answered all my questions with patience. The staff is incredibly warm and organized—you never feel like "just another appointment". The office is bright, open and thoughtfully designed.

Before I went to Dr. Fung’s office, I had slightly misaligned teeth. My parents and I had looked for various orthodontists that would be able to treat me, to no avail - they were either very expensive, or they didn’t accept my insurance. Other orthodontists did not leave a positive impression on us, with their staff lacking a professional demeanor. When we went to Dr. Fung’s office, we were warmly greeted upon entering the doorway of Nexus Orthodontics. The staff had such a welcoming demeanor, I felt like I was being welcomed into Dr. Fung’s personal home.
I was extremely nervous about the thought of getting braces, since I was afraid that the process was going to hurt. When I finally met her, she was extremely understanding of my feelings, reassuring me that the process would be quick and relatively pain-free. When I went back a few weeks later to get my braces, she assured me everything would be fine, and in fact I did not feel a thing. I would highly recommend her.

Had an amazing experience at Nexus Orthodontics when we visited for a consultation recently. Dr. Shauna Fung and team were professional and friendly and the space is modern, clean and breathtaking! The assistant was gentle with our daughter when taking photos and getting X-rays set up. Our daughter felt comfortable every step of the way and we never felt rushed. We even walked in to a personalized welcome message on the screen, which was a nice added touch and sweet gesture. Dr. Fung walked us through our daughter’s X-ray results and took the time to provide a detailed treatment plan. We had many questions and none of them were left unanswered. We’re excited to move forward and am confident that we will be happy with the results! Not to mention, the prices seem very reasonable, compared to similar practices in the area.

Dr. Fung and staff were super friendly and professional from the moment we walked in. I took my young son in for an orthodontic consult (due to crowding) and he was nervous but staff was very welcoming which made him feel more comfortable. I liked that they were honest and didn't tell me he needed work done right away (as some other offices did) and to wait a few more months to see if the issue would correct itself and next steps. She was also very patient with my fidgety son and answered all my questions in detail. The office is brand new, modern aesthetics and really clean. I highly recommend Dr. Fung to anyone looking for a great orthodontist.

First time getting my teeth checked, found out i have an overbite that’s causing me pain. I went in for a consultation and Dr Jung educated me on the entire procedure in a way that I could easily understand.

Brought in my 8-year-old son for a checkup and had a really good experience. The staff was very friendly —he wasn’t nervous at all. The office was very clean and calming, more like a trendy spa than a dentist’s office. Dr. Fung was awesome—very kind and easy to talk to. She explained everything clearly and took her time. Doctor Shauna Fung and her staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, great communicators. They made sure to answer all my questions in detail, which made me confident in their expertise. On top of the fact that pricing m here is better than similar places nearby, the office is new and feels luxurious. They even gave me a welcome kit which included an awesome 40oz Stanley cup- what a pleasant surprise!

We had a great consultation with Dr. Fung. She was so easy to talk to—patient, thorough, and answered all my questions without rushing. We came in a bit nervous, expecting a sales pitch, but instead, she suggested we wait and give my daughter’s teeth more time to develop. That honesty really meant a lot.
The staff were also incredibly friendly and great with kids—my daughter was smiling and laughing the whole time! The office was clean, modern, and calming. It felt more like a spa than a dental office. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending Nexus Orthodontics to our friends!
