About Dr. Shiva Basir
Dr. Shiva Basir is a board-certified pediatric dentist who believes that dentistry should be a fun and enjoyable experience for children. Her goal is to provide the highest quality care to her young patients in a gentle manner, while ensuring good oral health and the optimal growth and development of the airways and jaws, with an awareness of their relationship to whole-body wellness.
Dr. Shiva graduated from Columbia University with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. She completed her postdoctoral education in general practice at the New York Methodist Presbyterian Hospital in the charming neighborhood of Park Slope in Brooklyn. While practicing as a general dentist, she discovered her joy and natural ability to work with children, prompting her to pursue further education in Pediatric Dentistry. She received an additional two years of postdoctoral training, specializing in pediatric dentistry, at Saint Joseph’s Regional Hospital in Paterson, NJ.
Dr. Basir is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Dental Association (ADA), New York State Dental Association (NYSDA), New York County Dental Association and International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine (IABDM).

Like many parents, brushing my child's teeth is a battle every night. However, unlike most kids I know, mine LOVES going to the dentist, and that's all thanks to Dr. Shiva Basir at Blossom Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Basir doesn't just try to distract my very aware child; instead, she sweetly engages her in the process, making her feel like they're on the same team to keep her mouth clean and healthy.
After our appointment today, my child was excited to brush and floss with the toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss in her goodie bag.
Blossom Pediatric Dentistry truly goes above and beyond, and I highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking exceptional dental care for their children.

I am writing this note with so much gratitude for Dr. Shiva. For the past 6 years, I have been seeing Dr. Shiva for my daughter. When we first started seeing Dr. Shiva, my daughter was so very afraid and overwhelmed of even a check up. Dr. Shiva was so patient, kind, caring, and creative. After just one visit, the fear was gone and she always looks forward to every visit. Dr. Shiva spends time explaining everything to my daughter in a way that few pediatric practitioners can (and as a pediatrician myself, I can really appreciate the skill it takes to turn an overwhelmed and frightened child into an excited and comfortable child). She is the most skilled and professional dentist while also maintaining a holistic approach to dental health, which is so rare and special. Thank you for taking care of my little one. On a side note- I have also been recommending Dr. Shiva Basir to all my patients.

Dr. Shiva is amazing, she has been my kids pediatric dentist for years now and they both feel so comfortable with her, every appointment has been a breeze! I’ve also referred a lot of my family members to bring their kids to see her as well, she’s great!

Dr. Basir is excellent. She is patient and compassionate in her delivery of care. My son has Autism and can be resistive to care, but Dr. Basir took the time to explain each step to my son to ease his anxiety as best she could.

Dr. Shiva Basir is wonderful with kids. My toddler hardly lets me help her brush her teeth but she lets Dr. Shiva inspect her mouth with ease. It’s nice that my daughter gets to experience liking going to the dentist - something I never imagined possible. I also like Dr. Shiva’s approach, holistic, practical and grounded all at the same time. She’s extremely knowledgeable.

I can’t say enough positive things about Dr. Shiva. I have been bringing my 2 children to see her for the past couple years and they absolutely love her!! They never fear “going to the dentist”, thankfully. From the moment you step into her office, you feel at ease and know that your children are in the best hands. She is so kind, compassionate, skilled, and highly professional. We are so glad we found her and I always recommend her to my other parent friends, so I am happy to share our positive feedback here as well! Thank you for all you do, Dr. Shiva!!!
