Dr. Shiworke is dedicated to promoting better oral health in children and adults through comprehensive dental care and patient education. She joined DC Pearls Dental Boutique in Washington, DC, where her skills in oral surgery and experience in periodontics and pediatric dentistry are highlighted through attentive care and a talent for understanding and responding to the needs of patients of all ages.
Dr. Shiworke received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2018. She is board certified in multiple states, including Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, to practice dentistry and oral surgery. She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA).
Dr. Shiworke's compassion and devotion to dental health extend beyond the office. Her volunteer work in the dental field includes oral screenings, free dental care, and dental supplies through several organizations, including Covenant House, Pediatric Outreach, and Smiles4Ethiopia. These organizations serve individuals who do not have access to routine dental or medical care.
When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Shiworke enjoys traveling, yoga, and time with her family. She is also an avid reader and appreciates discovering exciting new fiction authors.

This was my first appointment at this office. I was not seen by the doctor I booked with. I received multiple calls and texts to confirm my insurance and to fill out paperwork ahead of my appointment time. I did not expect my 1:30pm appointment to take nearly 2 hours. I wasn’t called back until 2pm to get the routine x-rays and cleaning. When that was done I waited an additional 15 minutes to see the doctor that I did not book.
They offered to waive a Fluoride treatment but after 1.5 hours, I was ready to go and had other things to do. I’m not sure if I will be returning.

I had to see a different provider because I booked the appointment on the morning of, and the office said that Zocdoc had caused them to overbook the slot I’d chosen. So, I had to wait over an hour. The dentist who did see me was nice enough, but he recommended a crown and the price was higher than I’d expected. I went to a different dentist today who showed me the physical evidence on my x-ray that the tooth doesn’t even need a crown. It only needs a new filling. So, I got the impression that DC Pearls Dental Boutique really just wanted my money. Experience wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great, and I am skeptical of the recommendation for a treatment that I didn’t really need.

Before I visited this practice for a routine check up, I had no dental pain. Three months and several specialist followups later, I've finally been able to address my discomfort with chewing, which started after I received a treatment this doctor recommended and delivered.
During my visit, the doctor suggested I schedule several procedures for my teeth and gums, insisting it would be important to get them done soon. Thankfully, second opinions from other practices confirmed most of these steps wouldn’t be immediately necessary for me.
However, the one treatment I received here, an onlay, had to be redone by another provider after multiple attempts to address it here were unsuccessful. This was a time intensive and physically painful process that I wish I could have avoided. I should have read other reviews more carefully before visiting this office, as I was upsold and received a botched treatment.

The WORSE dental experience ever!
This place is filled with incompetent people from front desk to the hygienist.
Afshin should not work here! He was completely unsanitary! He touched another client then touched his computer then prepared to touch me. I told him he needs to put on new gloves and he tried to convince his gloves were clean. If I didn’t persist, he would have touched my mouth with the same gloves he used on another customer. Absolutely DISGUSTING!
I came in for one service and then needed to reschedule due to the length of time. This would have been perfectly fine but it was the chaos and confusion between staff that sealed my decision as an ABSOLUTE NO to not come back.
Then, they said they would discount my service as if that could make up for the chaos, confusion, and emotional distress they put me through.
I wanted to give them a chance but I should have heeded to the prior warnings from previous customers.
DO NOT COME HERE!!!

My dental hygienist was amazing and so kind. The office is stunning and so clean. The doctor seemed in a rush and tired. Like just generally uninterested and anxious. I also felt like they tried to upsell you. Like they needed to find something to charge you extra for. I’d recommend my hygienist to anyone but the doctor should be a little more personable. Maybe pretend he’s interested.

I am extremely pleased with my visit to see Dr. S. I was in need of emergency work and although I only booked a new patient exam and cleaning, we were able to tend to my current needs in real time. I’m confident that I will find confidence in my smile again with Dr. S as my dentist.

Wonderful dentist, truly enjoyed her bedside manner. Unfortunately due to my experience with the lack of financial transparency reflected in the real reviews of the clinic I will not be returning. After some searching, I realized my appointment had been booked, confirmed, and noted on Zocdoc as In-Network only to be told nothing I needed for my follow-up was covered right at the end. It was very uncomfortable to experience the financial pushiness evident again in the reviews of the clinic. Definitely learned to look into where I go for my health needs.
