About Dr. Sonia Mendez
Dr. Mendez received her degree in dental surgery at UCSF in 2004. She worked for 10 years in San Francisco before taking over the practice of Dr. Dean DeRanieri in 2014. She strives to continue to provide excellent dental care to the residents of South San Francisco and its surrounding areas.
Being a true believer in lifelong learning, her knowledge of dentistry is kept up-to-date with continuing education courses on a variety of subjects, including implants, cosmetic dentistry, and much more. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Mateo Dental Society. Her commitment to patient comfort and satisfaction ensures that every patient that comes into her care is treated with respect, kindness, patience, and a gentle touch. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Our office accepts all PPO insurances, but we are out of network for all PPO dental insurances. We process all claims as a courtesy to our patients. We do not accept HMO, Medical, Dentical, or health plan of San Mateo.

The environment was very friendly and welcoming and I was sat down right away. Clinicians and receptionists are all very knowledgeable whenever I have questions. The treatment I get here is always very thorough and very comfortable. Would recommend to my family & friends. This dental office is great!

I can’t say enough about how amazing my experience was at Dentist’s Office! From the moment I walked in, the customer service was top-notch. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient, making me feel right at home. They really take the time to listen and make sure all your questions are answered, which I really appreciated.
Dr. Mendez is an absolute professional. Not only does she have a great eye for detail, but they also made sure I was comfortable throughout any procedure. You can tell they truly care about their patients’ well-being and take pride in their craft.
Overall, I’m so grateful for the care I received. I highly recommend Dr. Mendez for anyone looking for high-quality dental work paired with outstanding customer service!

Dr. Mendez, And supporting staff, including hygienist, Maddy Mero - are exactly what you hope for in a dental office.
They are efficient, professional, and have a great bedside manner to make you feel comfortable. This is achieved while still providing appropriate preventative and restorative care.
Most people tried going to the dentist, but thanks to this office and Dr. Mendez, I am not one of those people.

Dr. Mendez has been our family dentist for over 10 years. The work we’ve had done in her office has always been thorough and technically competent with up to date dental equipment. Dr.Mendez’s manner is gentle and thoughtful to our comfort. We’ve depended on her advice for maintaining healthy teeth with great success.
Dr Mendez’s dental assistant is skilled and calm. Checking for our comfort as she works.
The office is clean and the entire staff is friendly and caring. We’re happy that we have a consistent relationship with Dr. Mendez.
