“Dr. Thomas Maher and his staff are truly amazing. Admittedly, I neglected seeing a dentist for many years , so I was a bit nervous going to the dentist again. Boy was I wrong! This place is awesome. I felt extremely comfortable and right at home! The entire team makes you feel like part of the family and you can immediately see how much they care. Quality and professionalism is top notch! About Dr. Thomas Maher
Dr. Maher, born and raised in Staten Island.
He then went on to attend the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
After BU, Dr. Maher completed a general residency program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. His residency furthered his experience in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and implantology. Dr. Maher has also taken part in community outreach, including traveling to Poptún, Guatemala where he provided dental care and education to the underserved.
Dr. Maher is excited to finally be back in Staten Island and looks forward to providing exceptional care in his hometown.

Was not seen by the dentist I booked. I booked 10am, was told to come in 9:15am and I waited till 10am before I saw doctor so why tell me to come early. I’m fine with the wait if the dentist was good but the cleaning was way below my expectation. Visited this office because it was close. Never coming back. My gum is extremely bruised around my teeth afterwards with constant small amounts of bleeding non stop. The dentist that saw me was super rough and while cleaning, poked the side of my mouth and my tongue 2-3 times with the tool and caused lots of bleeding. Had to pause the cleaning to stop the blood on the side of my mouth for me. After wards my teeth is extremely sensitive to even room temperature water. None of this EVER happens to me from ANY of the other dentists I’ve been to. Upon inspection I realized the area of big teeth that you bite on is not even cleaned??? WAYYY below par experience. I do not recommend this practice unless you want bruised gum

Dr. Thomas Maher is patient, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. I trust him implicitly and would highly recommend him. I normally dread seeing dentists, but Dr. Maher is so good, I actually look forward to my next visit with him and his friendly, helpful staff. Can't say enough good things about Gateway Dental.
