About Dr. Trang Thai

Hello everyone. I went to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and earned my DMD. After graduation, I spent the summer volunteering in Costa Rica and Nicaragua where I treated and educated patients in poverty-struck areas. I have great memories of my time there, including the time I tripped over a pig and fell into the mud when trying to walk to the bathroom (outhouse) in the dark! I then moved to Fresno for my residency. I spent a year at the VA Hospital of Fresno treating our Veterans. I learned a lot during my time here, not only becoming better technically and skill-wise but also learning how to become a well-rounded clinician. Hearing the stories of my patients and their life experiences reinforced that patients are more than X-Rays and Teeth. School never taught me about patient care and I am grateful for the experience I had during this time. The patients and my amazing clinical director, Dr. James Carbone, helped me to become a better clinician and a better person. Patients are vulnerable and trusting me to take care of them. It is a huge responsibility and I sleep well at night knowing deep in my heart that I consider every patient like family and give it my all to treat everyone with the respect and care they deserve. After my time in Fresno, I practiced in Bakersfield, CA for one year. My home has always been the Bay Area so I decided to transfer to the Gentle Dental in Palo Alto. After many years there (and meeting a lot of very great people) Now in 2024, I am not sure if the time is right, but I decided to take the plunge and open a new office.
