About Dr. Vaibhav Rai
Dr. Rai loves dentistry and transforming people's lives through the power of their smile. Growing Smile Loft into the dental provider of choice for affordable, high-quality and convenient dentistry is not only his vision but also his passion. Every day, Dr. Rai inspires and leads his staff to make each practice a center of excellence for patient education, safety and comfort.
Dr. Rai firmly believes in keeping up-to-date with all the latest advancements in dentistry and dental technology to best serve his patients. Most recently in 2021, Dr. Rai gained certification with the American Academy of Facial Esthetics to offer Botox treatment for TMJ pain and other oro-facial pain needs. Each Smile Loft office utilizes a full suite of technology, including digital scanning, intra-oral cameras, and panographic x-ray machines to ensure the highest level of diagnostic capabilities and precision in care.
A graduate of Howard University College of Dentistry, Dr. Rai completed an additional year of training in general and cosmetic dentistry at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital, and within a year acquired his first dental office in Laurel, MD. Since that time, Smile Loft has expanded to 5+ physical locations throughout Maryland and is growing. You can find Dr. Rai at many of these locations performing implant procedures and endodontics in addition to general and cosmetic dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Rai enjoys spending time with his wife Christine and his three young children.

Horrible experience. Also did not properly update Zocdoc. Zocdoc said they accepted my insurance but then it turns out they didn't. Didn't bill me until after 2 visits and I ended up paying for two cleanings even though I had insurance

Pretty sure I found my new best friend. Dr. Rai is awesome. I went in for a standard cleaning which went smooth, no pain. At the end he fixed some unevenness in my teeth! I hated the crooked edges and just learned to accept them, and BOOM 45 seconds later I love my teeth. He's personable, gentle, and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back!
Also, his team is great. Super sweet and professional.

Dr. Rai is great! I have had some bad experiences with dentists in the past, so was definitely happy to come across him! I've gone back a couple times now and have never had to wait. He is incredibly friendly, explains everything, and doesn't judge, but will tell you to floss more, politely :)

Can't say enough good things about Dr Rai. He took his time with me and taught me about all of my oral maladies. He did not make me feel rushed. He showed me respect and educated men about how I can improve my oral hygiene. His administrator and hygienist were wonderful. The dental chair has a nice vibrating massage function! I used to hate coming to the senators, and although it's still not at the tops of my favorite things to do, he made the experience as good as possible.

Very educational experience during routine cleaning, came out of there feeling and knowing a lot more about how to better take care of my oral health. He also did a fantastic job cleaning and provided great details as to what I ought to be doing and whats happening.

I had to get a crown done and I hate dental work but Dr. Rai was very patient and explained everything as he was doing it. There was no pain and it took just minutes when I actually got the permanent crown.

I loved Dr. Rai. He was so high energy and nice. I went in to get fillings after another dentist in the area told me I needed multiple. He checked me out and let me know I didn't need any fillings. He truly cares about his patients which definitely showed during our visit. By far one of my best experiences at the dentist.
