Dr. Whitney Mostafiz-Levinson is a Board-Certified orthodontist & looks forward to offering you a warm, memorable experience with a focus on one-on-one personalized care.
Dr. Whitney has dreamed of becoming an orthodontist since she was 12 and is excited to share her passion with you. A NY native, Dr. Whitney studied human biology and visual art at Brown University and completed dental school at Harvard. Dr. Whitney completed her orthodontics residency at the historic University of Illinois at Chicago, where her research led to a Masters degree. Dr. Whitney also serves as an Adjunct Professor at NYU's Dept. of Orthodontics. Dr. Whitney has published award-winning research on obstructive sleep apnea appliance therapy. She treats both children and adults with traditional braces, Invisalign, and palatal expansion. She utilizes 3D digital diagnostics including the iTero element scanner & Propel/Orthopulse acceleration techniques. In addition, Dr. Whitney has experience with early interventional treatment and combined surgical treatment.
An active leader in the dental and orthodontic community, Dr. Whitney participated in the 2015 American Association of Orthodontists Emerging Leaders Conference. She is on the 2017-2023 NYC Give Kids a Smile Steering Committees. She is president of the New York Chapter of Alpha Omega International Dental Society. She lectures both locally and afar. Outside of the office, Dr. Whitney loves to keep active, and even finished the Chicago Marathon. She enjoys drawing, painting, photography, and graphic design.

Dr Whitney is an amazing orthodontist. I am both a mom and a general dentist, and she is the Ortho I CHOSE to take my young son to for very early intervention.
My son had so much fun! Can you imagine? He left THRILLED! Dr. Whitney answered all his thousands of questions with humor and patience, and she has a feather light touch.
From my dentist's perspective, Dr. Whitney has the best intuition in her field, treating complex cases in efficient and uncomplicated ways. She also simply REALLY CARES!!!! How rare it is, to find a practitioner that maintains a gold standard!

My consultation with Dr. Whitney was invaluable, I now understand more than I would have imagined the complexities for my son’s orthodontic case. I really appreciate that. She wanted to get to know me and my son on a personal level which is so different from most doctors, and listened to us patiently as we explained our concerns since he’s missing some teeth. She was thorough with her assessment and developing a preliminary treatment plan that she will continue to work on with our dentist. She is very thoughtful and I can tell she truly cares about her patients. We look forward to working with her and I trust her wholeheartedly. Her expertise is worth every penny!

I was very disappointed in my visit with Dr. Whitney and would not recommend her for several reasons.
1. She charges for a first consultation and does not do a scan or take any x-rays. Before the appointment, I exchanged several messages with her that were specific in asking if she could tell me what my treatment would be along with the cost, and she assured me she could do so without x-rays. By the end of the visit, she told me she could not describe the plan until I came back for a scan- another fee.
2. I asked her for a price estimate in advance. Once there, she gave an estimate that was substantially more. When I questioned she said that her quote was for express treatment.
Unlike most Manhattan orthodontists who offer a free 15 min consultation or who charge but include the scan, Dr. Whitney charged but doesn’t give specifics on that treatment plan, and gives inaccurate quotes.

Dr. Whitney is very professional, prompt, and thorough. I felt the process was as easy as it could possibly be. I had Invisalign for 11 months and because of the conservative movement that she decided on, I did not have increased recession of my gums, which was a huge concern for me as I had slight recession before the treatment. She also recommended that I see a periodontist to ensure my periodontal disease was not getting any worse with treatment. She always reminded me to keep my teeth clean, wear my retainers, clean the retainers, and not clench my jaw. She was always available by text message for any of my questions about my teeth. Dr. Whitney knew that I absolutely hated wearing the invisialign but kept me motivated to keep going and always weighed what I wanted with what my teeth needed. I highly recommend her as she is incredibly knowledgeable and patient.

I’ve wanted Invisalign for years. My problem was complex, and I was told time and again that I wasn’t a candidate for aligners. I let it go until August 2020, when Zoom meetings had gotten the best of me and I couldn’t take it any longer.
Dr. Whitney was the first orthodontist I reached out to, thanks to her stellar reviews. I fully expected to have to wear metal braces, based on past diagnoses, and had accepted it. We met over zoom during lockdown (with two kitchen spoons and me smiling wide into my laptop camera, mind you), and I knew I’d found my provider. Not only was she certain that she could fix my bite with Invisalign, but she was thorough and pleasant. She is also extremely on top of things, always. SHE texted ME when her office reopened to ask if I was ready. It’s hard to find that level of patient care, especially in New York, and it’s been consistent for my entire treatment.
Dr. Whitney is an artist. She loves what she does, and she takes the time to listen and really hear her patients. I’m on my second round of refinement trays now and I can’t stop looking at my teeth. She has succeeded all my expectations, put me in touch with a periodontist when I needed one, and sought out opinions from her network on doctors unrelated to my mouth when I asked for them. She is an unbelievable orthodontist, an even better person, and I haven’t regretted embarking on this journey with her for one second. Neither will you. Make the appointment.

Getting Invisalign with Dr. Whitney has been such a lovely experience. immediately upon meeting Dr. Whitney, I knew that I wanted to work with her. She is down to earth, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. Before my treatment, I visited with a couple other orthodontists in the city who all seemed completely detached from their patients. I came to her in hopes of fixing some minor crowding on my bottom teeth, and finished the treatment with a better smile than I had ever hoped for (in less than 6 months!!).
Dr. Whitney is, of course, incredibly knowledgeable of dental health and orthodontics, yet is also a talented artist that knows just how to create a smile that suits you aesthetically. Additionally, her communication is incredibly prompt. She is available by phone, text message, email, etc. I was consistently shocked by how quickly she got back to me!
Getting Invisalign has been one of the greatest investments that I've ever made, and working with Dr. Whitney has been so incredible. I will miss her!

Dr.Whitney’s is great! I’ve had braces before but my teeth moved after I did not wear my retainers and decided to give my teeth another go. Dr.Whitney addresses my concerns and made sure I was happy with the process and results. She super easygoing and quick with responses too, I never felt like I had trouble reaching her or asking her any questions. If you’re looking to do Invisalign with a great orthodontist, I definitely recommend her!

Dr. Whitney is the only reason I trust anyone in my mouth. I’ve been scared of dentists/orthos for most of my life, having started braces in elementary school and struggling with pain, shame, etc. over the state of my teeth.
I went to see her for invisalign because my teeth were starting to shift again, years after my childhood braces came off. She completely blew me out of the water, and continues to do so. Her energy is amazing, she’s so efficient, she really listens, and most importantly—she knows what she’s talking about. She even helped me transfer my case to another ortho when I moved across the country, yet still answers every single message/email I send with questions. I love her, and I recommend her to everyone.

It’s been 2 years since my first visit and I really recommend this place to everyone who needs to see an orthodontist. I did the Invisalign here and I’m very happy with my experience here, enjoyable and nice result. She always listens to my concerns very carefully and communicates well with me before the treatment, which is especially important for an Invisalign treatment.
To be honest I thought I left my review successfully right after my first visit but not sure if it really does, so just leaving another review just in case.

Dr Whitney was the first orthodontist I consulted with when considering whether or not to get Invisalign and I knew after our first meeting that I didn't even need to bother seeing any others. She was very warm and welcoming and spoke about her work and what the Invisalign process would look like in-depth but in a way that was easy to understand. Every appointment I walk into her office comfortable, and knowing that I'm in safe hands - she is super thorough and genuinely wants to give you the best smile she can, and looking at her results with some other clients, I can honestly say I was not worried in the slightest starting my treatment. She is easy to communicate with, and making appointments are a total painless process.
I still have a few months left, but when I went to my dentist for my bi-annual cleaning, she was SO impressed with how my smile looked, she couldn't stop raving about it! The 7 month before-and-after pictures are incredible. I could not be happier with the results and I am so excited to see what my smile looks like after we're done.
Do yourself a favor: if you want a gorgeous smile or need any orthodontic treatment, Dr Whitney is your answer.

Dr. Mostafiz is a true artist when it comes to your smile. I went to her to start treatment using Invisalign for an open bite. For years I had been told my smile could not be corrected using Invisalign and had been recommended reconstruction surgery by having my jaw broken and reset to align my bite. The results in the simulation video that Dr. Whitney custom designed were better than anything I could have imagined. I'm 6 months into my treatment and the results are mind-blowing, and I still have another 6 months to go. She's great and really cares. I would recommend her to everyone.
