STRESS-FREE DENTISTRY
We provide effective treatments with comfort and relaxation to make your visit as stress-free as possible. We offer laughing gas and have a therapy dog to assist with comfort.
Ashby, daughter of our therapy dog Chattam (lost to cancer in January 2020), is in therapy dog training and loves to visit with you before or after your appointment.
Evolve Dental is sensitive to allergy needs and takes proper steps to ensure an excellent dental experience.

Dr. Oliver, a University of Minnesota graduate with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, is known for his excellent chairside manner and ability to treat even the most anxious patients. With high attention to detail and commitment to top-quality care, he stays current with dental advances and genuinely loves the people he sees.

Dr Oliver and his staff were great! Extremely friendly and professional staff. I usually dread having to go to the dentist, however my experience here was exceptional. The best dentistry experience I've ever had. I honestly can’t think of anything I would change about my appointment. I will be back every six months, and I will recommend Dr. James Oliver’s practice to all my RVA friends and family.
Service: I scheduled my appointment online for the next day, and Melissa called the next morning to confirm the appointment, confirm my insurance, and gave me the option to fill out the pre-appointment paperwork online. I waited for less than 5 minutes before the dental assistant (sorry, I forgot your name!) brought me back. The x-ray, imaging, and other dental tools they used were all top-notch and definitely aided the team to deliver a more thorough and efficient dental service. Dr. James Oliver used a special camera to photograph each one of my teeth. He used these images, along with the x-rays that the dental assistant took, to explain the health/state of each one of my teeth. Dr. Oliver also performed a quick manual examination of the lymph nodes in the areas around my mouth (face/neck), which I have never had another dentist do. I feel very confident that my oral/dental health has been very well-assessed.
Place: The office building itself is in a nice area, easy to find, and has plenty of parking. The waiting room, restroom, and patient rooms were all very clean and cozy. The patient room had two television screens: one above the dental chair for me to watch while being examined/worked on and another on the wall for the doctor and dental assistants to use to view images/records of my teeth.
People: Melissa, the dental assistant at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She made the logistics (paperwork, insurance, payment, arrival time) of my appointment go very smoothly. The second dental assistant that brought me back to take my x-rays was also nice and performed her job very well. Dr. James Oliver is a master of his craft, and I can tell he is passionate about his job. He was very personable and kind, and he made sure I was comfortable the whole time and that I understood everything he was doing. Last but not least, Dr. Oliver's dog Ashby was there, and she was super cute and showed me some of her toys. 10/10 would recommend.

I have visited the office a few times and had a great experience each time. Coming into the office it is was quick and there was barely a wait. The staff was friendly and they worked well together from beginning to end. I was provided a treatment plan and given different routes I can take based on my timeline/budget. I like how they keep you informed and educate you on what they are doing during your visit! Thank you guys!
