What should a new client know about working with you?

I began my mental health career in Buffalo, NY at a local community clinic called Spectrum Health and Human Services where I served clients from ages 6 to end-of-life. While working with adolescence I gained experience managing a multitude of various mental health disorders including but not limited to: Depression, Gender Dysphoria, Body Dysmorphia, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, Trauma, Personality Disorders and Psychosis. Please note, we do not treat active eating disorders. My approach to patient care is to provide as much insight and knowledge into mental health diagnosis to allow my patients to fully understand what is going on as well as helping them tailor a medication treatment regimen that suites their needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For adolescents ages 10 and up, the first appointment is considered the Initial Psychiatric Evaluation. This takes place with both parent and child to gain all the necessary information needed to assess the child and families concerns and needs. This takes about 1 hour in duration. After a comprehensive evaluation, I will spend some time speaking with both the parent and child to offer education on possible diagnosis and shed insight into such. This will be followed by recommendations to possible counseling services (not currently offered in office), if deemed appropriate, while I offer my services in medication management (in office with myself) to assist in overall stability and management of symptoms. Follow-up appointments are then made in 20-30 minute increments depending on the personal needs of the child and family.
