What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
From an early age, I was drawn to helping people, listening to their concerns, understanding their challenges, and doing whatever I could to support them. Becoming a doctor felt like a natural path for me. I’ve always found fulfillment in problem-solving and advocating for others, and medicine allows me to do both in a meaningful and lasting way.
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Endocrinology fascinates me because it connects multiple organ systems, and every case is a puzzle that requires deep thinking and problem-solving. I enjoy the intellectual challenge it offers, but more importantly, I love the long-term relationships I build with patients as we work together to manage chronic conditions and improve their quality of life.
How do you connect with your patients?
I connect with my patients by being a good listener and creating a space where they feel heard, respected, and supported. I believe trust is the foundation of effective care, and I strive to earn that trust by being present, empathetic, and reliable. My goal is always to understand not just the medical issue, but the person behind it.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
Outside the office, I enjoy staying active, I play soccer and follow sports like American football (big fan of the Minnesota Vikings), soccer, and tennis. I also love food and music and enjoy going to the theater and live shows with my wife.
What is your advice for your patients?
I often remind my patients to believe in themselves. Even small steps can lead to meaningful change, and every effort, no matter how minor it seems, counts. I’m here to support them on that journey and to celebrate each victory along the way.

While this doctor was a kind person, I did not feel that he took my symptoms seriously. He looked at a 2 page symptom list with positive tests from my PCP and told me “you are fine” and “there’s nothing I can do” - yikes.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m a woman, as we tend to get pushed through the medical system, but I was incredibly disappointed by this doctor’s lack of interest in asking deeper questions. He seemed to be trained to look at certain data points without any room for questioning beyond that.
After this terrible experience, I was grateful to find a different endo that looked at my symptoms with care and diagnosed me with a condition that seemed to fit my symptoms and test results pretty obviously.
I felt that it was important to share my experience for any individuals, especially young women, who are exploring a new diagnoses. I’m sure he is a wonderful provider in different cases, especially coming to him with an established diagnosis, but would not recommend.

I had an excellent experience with this endocrinologist today. His bedside manner was truly spectacular. He took his time explaining everything about my thyroid and my treatment plan in a way that was clear, thorough, and reassuring. He really listened to my concerns and made me feel heard and understood. He was also very attentive when he noticed my blood pressure was a little high. The office staff were professional and kind as well. I honestly haven’t felt treated with this level of dignity and respect in a very long time. I highly recommend this doctor.

I am hyper critical of all Doctors. Dr. Mukhtar js the guy you need to see. I spent close to 40 minutes talking with him. He reviewed my entire medical history and then explained to me all options in great detail. He gave me such a thorough examination and we both collaborated to regarding how to proceed. I HIGHLY recommend him.

I visited this endocrinologist for ongoing symptoms and elevated results, hoping for answers and direction. Instead, I was told that nothing could be done at this time, which felt dismissive considering what I’m experiencing.
What was disappointing is that I had to bring up possible options myself before anything was even considered. When you’re going to a specialist, you expect someone to guide you—not to wait until you suggest things first.
He scheduled a follow-up, but since there was no real plan or meaningful next steps provided, I decided not to return. I left feeling unheard and without any clarity or support.
Sharing this so others are aware—if you want a doctor who proactively explains options, provides guidance, and takes symptoms seriously, this may not be the right fit.

Dr. Mukhtar is extremely knowledgeable on diabetes, professional, and friendly. The office was great, too, despite the Google reviews; I was seen immediately and the place is huge! Looking forward to my follow up.
