Dr. Dahan is a psychiatrist who specializes in treating adults using psychodynamic psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and medication management. Her approach to treatment emphasizes emotions in the context of your life's experiences. Her care is individualized, compassionate, safe, and entirely confidential. It is her belief that every person who seeks psychiatric care deserves partnership with an experienced and trusted physician who can not only diagnose illness and provide symptom relief, but who empowers individual growth. Dr. Dahan received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, after completing her undergraduate education, majoring in pharmacology, at SUNY Stony Brook. She then pursued 4 years of post-graduate residency training in psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan, where she was chosen to be Chief Resident, and received the C. Harold Taylor, MD Psychotherapy Award for excellence in psychotherapy. She then completed a year long fellowship in forensic psychiatry. Dr. Dahan is double Board Certified, in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. In 2021, she was awarded the NYU Department of Psychiatry Clinical Faculty Mentor of the Year award. Dr. Dahan teaches and mentors resident physicians, and works as a forensic psychiatrist at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, helping those with treatment refractory severe persistent mental illness, using her expertise in assessing risk. Her private practice is located in Englewood, NJ. Dr. Dahan's specialty is the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, panic, trauma related disorders, and psychosis.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Dahan’s office is on the second floor. There is no elevator and patients must be able to walk up a flight of stairs to reach her office.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After you book an initial 90 minute appointment with Dr Dahan, you will be emailed a link prompting you to open up an online portal account through Dr Dahan's electronic record, Luminello. You will need to make a username and password with Luminello, and add your credit card to the billing section of Luminello. You will then be sent online forms securely through the portal. We are a paperless practice. You will be sent: 1) Dr. Dahan's Practice Policies 2) Intake Questionnaire 3) Telemedicine/teletherapy consent 4) No Surprise Act Agreement Please take your time to carefully review and fill out these forms, paying most attention to the Intake Questionnaire. Dr. Dahan recognizes that it is a thorough, long, and detailed form. She developed this form as she finds that it helps her patients to identify areas of life which are causing distress, which may be relevant to the treatment, and forms a springboard from which to begin our work together. Your initial visit is a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation during which we will identify areas of stress and determine the next steps to achieve your goals. We will create a treatment plan using scientifically proven treatments. Dr. Dahan will provide expert clinical guidance so that you can be fully educated about your treatment options, including different types of therapies and medications. During the course of treatment, we will first address that which prompted you to seek help and work together to build a path of lasting change.
