“Working with Dr. Turner has made such a difference in my life. Finding someone who genuinely gets adult ADHD — especially with a packed schedule — is rare, and he really gets it. He didn’t just throw medication at me and call it a day. He took the time to listen, asked thoughtful questions, and helped me understand the bigger picture of what might actually be going on. We even talked about how my diet could be impacting how I’m feeling — what to avoid and what I could benefit from adding in. I really appreciate his whole-person approach. He worked with me to create a plan that feels realistic and sustainable for my busy life. I felt heard, supported, and never rushed. He’s been incredibly insightful and helpful during a very full season of my life. So glad I found him. Highly recommend.”

Getting to know Dr. Adam Turner

My primary goal is to help you or your child heal and become the best version of yourself. Our initial meeting will include a psychiatric evaluation and an assessment of the need for medication. I am well-versed in psychotherapy and natural healing, using various modalities to help individuals regain both emotional and physical health. Our work will help you connect more deeply in your most important relationships and live with purpose. I am frequently able to engage children and adults who have had difficulty talking to other therapists. I try to use medications sparingly when necessary and reduce or stop them when appropriate. I believe in promoting a healthy lifestyle, provide dietary guidance, and encourage exercise. I work with people of all ages and with couples, as well. In addition to working as a therapist and psychiatrist with adults, I have specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and am able to help parents and children manage behaviors and school issues. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. I completed my Psychiatry training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and also completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

I can honestly say this is the one of the most compassionate and attentive doctors my son has ever had — and as a parent, that means everything to me. From the moment we met with him, he made both of us feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. He didn’t rush through the appointment like so many others do. Instead, he took his time getting to know my son, speaking to him directly, and building a level of trust that I’ve rarely seen from a provider. He asked thoughtful questions, listened with patience, and offered clear, practical advice without making us feel overwhelmed or dismissed. My son, who is usually hesitant around doctors, actually opened up and felt comfortable — which is a huge deal for us. You can tell he’s not just doing a job — he truly cares about his patients and their well-being. We left the appointment feeling supported and also hopeful. I wish more doctors practiced with this level of compassion, professionalism, and heart. I can’t recommend him enough!!!

Dr. Turner is a great psychiatrist. He’s a great listener and always asks the right questions that really make me reflect and see things from a different angle. He’s also very responsive, whenever I’ve reached out, he’s been available and helpful. I really appreciate how he takes the time to go over the treatment options with me so we can make decisions together. I’ve felt supported and understood throughout.

GREAT EXPERIENCE - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Dr. Turner recently met with my son, after having a consultation with me. I was very pleased with the outcome. He clearly established a repour in a short time with him. I know this because my son agreed to a second appointment and did not say "I will never talk with him again." In addition, Dr Turner was able to speak with my son for about an hour or so. This was quite significant because he resists therapy or any discussion longer than 10 minutes. He is also very closed about how sharing anything about his past or how he feels. Dr Turner was able to reach him on some level. I liked Dr Turner. He asked good questions and he seems very thoughtful. Francesl

Dr. Turner was very easy to talk to. He listened patiently and was able to help me reassess things happening in my life. Most importantly, I felt that I could trust him enough to open up about things I never talked about before.
Dr. Turner cares deeply about his patients and focuses on exploring the underlying causes & emotional trauma. He does not rely mainly on medication--a rarity in my experience with psychiatrists--and instead focuses on behavioral changes that may help improve symptoms. I highly recommend this doctor.
Dr. Turner is an excellent mental health professional who takes a sincere interest in his patients' well-being. I would highly recommend him to any interested person.
Extemely professional and great bedside manner
I believe my once-a-week visits have really helped me. I have only been seeing Dr. Turner for a few weeks and I already recommend him.
Dr. Adam Turner is one of the few psychiatrists I met who put me completely at ease upon introduction. He has a really soothing laid back office- where there is actually a couch that looks inviting enough to utilize if the urge were to occurr. He looks like his photo- hippyish and sensitive (to me) but his demeanor also inspires a professional confidence that I suspect is a very safe and therapeutic space for his patients to work toward honest and productive sessions. He is not in my network, yet he offered a plan that could help me financially and made sure to follow up to see I got treatment. I will definitely return to Dr. Turner once I am in the black again. He would be a wonderful alternative to seeing a therapist and a psychiatrist for med management. He gives off the human factor that is needed in a clinical setting which can be lacking these days due to the managed care debacle that has divided the meds (MD)from the talk therapists. Having said all that, I only saw him once, but his follow through was impressive enough to write this review.
Dr. Turner is highly empathetic, engaging, and knowledgeable about medication in a very nuanced way. He is effective, thoughtful, and provides concise, informed feedback. A most unusual psychiatrist! I give him my highest recommendation.
