Getting to know Adaora Gbanite

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience, and I specialize in men’s mental health, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and substance use challenges. My style is compassionate, existential, and growth-oriented—I believe healing is not just about treating symptoms, but about helping you reconnect with meaning, resilience, and balance. I offer therapy and medication management through secure telehealth across New York, and I want you to know that you’ll always be seen as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. NOTE: practice does not accept medicare, mediciad, or out-of-network insurances

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means entering a space where you’ll be heard, supported, and gently challenged. My approach is warm and empathic, yet always grounded in structure and results. Clients—particularly men—often tell me they feel truly seen in our sessions and leave with greater clarity, perspective, and emotional direction. Together, we’ll look at what’s working in your life, what’s holding you back, and how to create meaningful change. I combine thoughtful listening with clinical depth and goal-driven structure. I also encourage patients to remain engaged between sessions—reflecting on insights, tracking progress, and applying tools in daily life. You won’t just receive treatment; you’ll gain a trusted partner on the path to mental strength, confidence, and self-trust.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric and psychosocial evaluation to understand not only your symptoms, but also your history, values, and goals. From there, we’ll co-create a treatment plan that may include therapy, medication, and practical lifestyle strategies. I believe progress happens both in and between sessions, so I emphasize accountability, reflection, and consistent communication. Over time, my goal is to help men and their families build lasting resilience, reduce stress, and move forward with clarity and confidence. Whether you’re dealing with longstanding struggles or sudden life changes, you’ll find a structured, supportive process and a thoughtful plan forward.
