Getting to know Dr. Adrian Mesa

I am the Founder and CEO of AMP Mental Health, and I have been active in the healthcare field since 2006. I earned my Doctorate from the University of Miami and am board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In addition to my work at AMP, I am an Army veteran, a father, a fitness enthusiast, and a photographer. My passion for mental health began long before my clinical career. As a first-generation Cuban American, I witnessed firsthand the impact of stigma surrounding mental health within the Latino community and within my own family. My uncle, who faced mental health challenges, has been a major source of inspiration in my life. That experience continues to shape my commitment to providing compassionate, culturally aware care and improving access to mental health services. Session Information (Self-Pay Rates) • Psychiatric Evaluation, Medication Management, Brief Psychotherapy: $350 (40 minutes) • Psychiatric Follow-Up, Medication Management, Brief Psychotherapy: $185 (20 minutes) These rates apply to self-pay patients. If you are using insurance, the cost of services will be determined by your insurance plan based on your specific benefits, copay, coinsurance, or deductible.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a direct, collaborative, and supportive approach. I focus on truly understanding your concerns and creating a plan that is practical, effective, and tailored to your specific needs. My style is straightforward but compassionate. I believe in clear communication so you feel informed and comfortable with every step of your care. While my primary focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, I also incorporate supportive conversations and guidance to help you better understand your symptoms and improve your day-to-day functioning. My goal is to help you feel more stable, in control, and confident in your treatment, while working toward meaningful and lasting progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where I take time to understand your history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and treatment goals. This allows me to form an accurate diagnosis and develop a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to you. In follow-up sessions, we focus on your progress, how medications are working, and any adjustments that may be needed. I also make space for supportive conversations to better understand what you are experiencing and to provide guidance you can apply in your daily life. I incorporate brief, solution-focused therapeutic support as part of our visits. My goal is to ensure you feel informed, supported, and confident in your treatment while working toward long-term stability and overall well-being.
