Getting to know Adrian Nwosu

Welcome! I’m Adrian Nwosu, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 10 years of healthcare experience. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks, sleep difficulties, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and other mood-related concerns. I understand that seeking psychiatric care can feel overwhelming. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your care. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy. Treatment is personalized based on your symptoms, health history, previous treatments, lifestyle, and personal goals. When appropriate, I also recommend and refer clients to qualified therapists because medication and therapy often work best together. I offer secure telepsychiatry appointments for adults throughout Texas, Colorado, New York, and New Jersey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, and straightforward. During your first appointment, I’ll take time to understand your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, and personal goals. We’ll then discuss your options and create a treatment plan together. Treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, lifestyle recommendations, and referrals to qualified therapists when ongoing therapy would be beneficial. I believe medication can be helpful, but it is often most effective when combined with therapy and healthy, sustainable changes. Please know that I do not prescribe stimulant medications. I also do not prescribe benzodiazepines, such as Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, or Valium, during the first visit. No specific medication is guaranteed; prescribing decisions are based on a comprehensive evaluation and what is clinically appropriate and safe for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first appointment, you’ll complete intake and consent forms so I can better understand your concerns and treatment history. During the initial evaluation, we’ll discuss your current symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous medications, daily functioning, and treatment goals. After the evaluation, I’ll review my clinical impressions and explain the available treatment options. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, laboratory testing when needed, or a referral to a qualified therapist. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring your progress, discussing any benefits or side effects, and adjusting the treatment plan when appropriate. I encourage questions and open communication so you remain informed and involved throughout your care.
