Welcome! I'm A'layah Matamoros, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, PNP-AC, founder of Mariposa Integrative Psychiatry PLLC. What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe the best psychiatric care starts with listening. My approach is warm, collaborative, and judgment-free, creating a space where patients feel comfortable sharing their concerns. Together, we'll take time to understand your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and goals before developing a personalized treatment plan. I provide evidence-based psychiatric evaluations and medication management while emphasizing education and shared decision-making. My goal is to help you understand your diagnosis, feel confident in your treatment options, and support you in making meaningful, lasting progress. Every patient is unique, and I tailor care to meet your individual needs while treating you with compassion, respect, and empathy every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where we'll discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, and treatment goals. This allows me to gain a complete understanding of your unique situation before making any recommendations. If medication is appropriate, we'll review the benefits, potential side effects, and alternative treatment options so you can make an informed decision. Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring your progress, adjusting medications when needed, addressing any concerns, and ensuring your treatment plan continues to meet your goals. While my primary role is medication management, I also incorporate supportive therapy techniques, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies into our visits. When appropriate, I encourage collaboration with your therapist or primary care provider to provide well-rounded, coordinated care.
