Alex Mustachi is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP). He graduated from New York University with a Master's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. He worked as a staff nurse on the medical/surgical infectious disease unit at New York Presbyterian for almost six years during the entire COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, he returned to NYU to earn his master's degree in mental health to become a nurse practitioner (NP). He is now working on an inpatient psychiatric unit at St. Vincent's Hospital in Harrison, NY, while also seeing patients privately. Alex was born and raised in Israel and served as a captain in the Israeli Defense Forces. He later emigrated to the U.S. and ran his own locksmith business. He began his second career in the medical field later in life. He worked as a psychiatric technician at Metropolitan Hospital in the emergency room and inpatient unit, where he helped de-escalate agitated and violent patients in acute psychiatric crisis. Despite the many challenges that come with a career change, he has been able to balance family time with two young children and a dog. Alex enjoys cooking, all outdoor activities, animals, and traveling with his wife and family.
