About Dr. Alexander Cartron
Dr. Alexander Cartron is a board-certified dermatologist with specialized training in medical and surgical dermatology.
He graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Theology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He also received the Eugene Sydney Bereston Award for Excellence in Dermatology and Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical and Applied Research. During medical school, he pursued a year of research at the National Institutes of Health in collaboration with the Uniformed Services University studying rare genetic skin conditions. He completed his internal medicine internship at Mercy Medical Center and his dermatology residency training at Penn State Health, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Cartron is a nationally recognized researcher, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications spanning medical and procedural dermatology. He is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. He sees patients of all ages and is an expert in the treatment of a wide range of dermatologic conditions including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, vitiligo, and skin cancer. Outside of work Dr. Cartron enjoys cooking, gardening, and trying new restaurants in Philadelphia with his husband.

I had never seen a dermatologist before my visit the other day, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Dr. Cartron was incredibly kind, compassionate, and spoke very clearly to answer my in-depth questions. He took his time to explain everything I was curious about and made me feel extremely comfortable. In a day and age where many people make you feel rushed, my experience in his office felt worth the time I took out from work and I would recommend anyone to schedule an appointment with him.

The worst experience I’ve ever had with a doctor. Gave me a vague diagnosis that didn’t make sense based on the information I had provided. When I asked follow up questions he seemed annoyed with me and answered as if he was talking to a young child. He eventually just asked “is there anything else I can help you with” then got up and left. If you see him make sure you just go along with whatever he says so you don’t waste his precious time.
