About Dr. Alexander Doctoroff
Dr. Alexander Doctoroff is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University and completed his Residency in Dermatology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Doctoroff is the past president of the New Jersey Dermatological Society. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the world-renowned Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he teaches dermatology residents. He also teaches medical residents and students at UMDNJ, where he holds a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment. Dr. Doctoroff is on staff at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. In addition to general medical dermatology, he specializes in cosmetic dermatology, surgical dermatology, and anti-aging skin treatments.
Dr. Doctoroff has received multiple dermatologic awards for excellence, including the Allergan-AOCD Resident Paper Competition Award, Stelwagon-Kroll Award, Dr. Daniel Koprince Educational Award, and Dr. Albert P. Ulrich Research Award. He was honored with the 2019 NJ Top Doctor award by NJ Top Docs. Patients have recognized Dr. Doctoroff with the Compassionate Doctor Award at Vitals.com and the Patient Choice Award at PatientsChoice.org. He has authored multiple publications in national dermatologic journals on a variety of topics and recently contributed a chapter to the premier dermatology resource, *Treatment of Skin Disease*, edited by Mark Lebwohl et al.

Stellar! Reception staff are fast, responsive. The medical care is solid: Jalpa Patel is kind, thorough and credible, and my skin screening was a breeze! I don’t go anywhere else now / switched to Metropolitan Dermatology for the proximity and quality of care.

The staff and doctor I saw was very good. There was an inconvenience and I was sent to another office. Turns out I receive a call minutes before my appointment letting me know the doctor my daughter was scheduled to see does not see children. Luckily the receptionist at the Morris Ave office was able to get me an appointment in the Clark office immediately. I am very thankful for their professionalism and understanding the importance of my visit. Aside from this I have to say I was pleased

I waited over an hour and half to be seen. The doctor rushed into the room to tell me to wait a bit longer. Then he came in and spent two minutes with me. I had a severe face wound and he didn’t appease my concerns at all. All he did was prescribe me some creams but wasn’t clear at all with how to take care of the wound until I asked as many questions as I could think of. I will be going to another professional to make sure this is taken care of the right way.

Dr. Doctoroff is very friendly and upbeat. I came for a mole check and also inquired about injectables. He didn't think I needed injectables yet, just a tailored skin care regime. I liked the fact that he treated me like a patient and not a customer; very refreshing. I would recommend him to anyone.

I googled Dermatologist in my area and Dr Doctoroff was one that came up on ZocDoc....I saw that there was an appt within an hour so I booked it..I filled out the paperwork online. When I got there I sat for less then 5 minutes and got into the room. within another few minutes the Dr. came in......VERY pleasant and personable. I really like him and will recommend him to others.

This was my first visit with Dr. Doctoroff. I had a minor nail concern and he was able to diagnose was the issue was right away with confidence. He did have a PA that came in before him to assess me. I got the feeling she was new and would not give me her opinion what my issue was. But I could hear her talking to him in the hallway and her diagnosis of my nail condition was exactly what he saw. I am a nurse and I work in a teaching hospital so I am very open to having teaching moments. Not only was he teaching her but also showing me at the same time what was going on. His bedside manner was excellent and I would definitely recommend him in the future.

Friendly staff and very warm atmosphere. Doctor took time to listen to the description of the issues and gave explanation of plausible causes. We left with the sense that the doctor was very sympathetic and helpful to us.
