Psychologist
6 E 39th St, Ste 1000, New York, NY
Hi, I'm Alex, a postdoctoral resident who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Whether you're caught in cycles of worry or intrusive thoughts, weighed down by low mood, or living with the lasting impact of trauma, I'm here to help you make sense of what you're experiencing and find a way forward. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward meaningful change. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs rather than one-size-fits-all. I draw from evidence-based practices such as CBT, ACT, exposure therapy, trauma-focused CBT, and others to help you build coping skills, face what feels overwhelming, and reconnect with what matters most to you. I earned my Ph.D. from Stony Brook University and am committed to compassionate, client-centered care. You don't need to have everything figured out to begin. If you're ready to take that first step, I'd love to connect and support you on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a collaborative partnership, and you set the pace. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, or the effects of trauma, I'll meet you where you are without judgment. I believe you're the expert on your own life, and my role is to offer support, perspective, and practical tools that fit your needs. Some of the work, especially facing fears or difficult memories, can feel challenging at times. We'll approach it gradually and thoughtfully so you always feel supported. You don't need to have the right words or a clear plan to start. Simply showing up is enough, and we'll figure out the rest together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on getting to know you, including what brings you to therapy, how your concerns affect your daily life, and what you hope will change. From there, we'll set goals together that feel meaningful and realistic. I draw from approaches like CBT, ACT, DBT, exposure therapy, trauma-focused CBT, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, depending on what fits you best. For example, we might work on noticing and shifting unhelpful thought patterns, gradually facing situations you've been avoiding, or building skills to manage intense emotions. Along the way, we'll check in regularly about how things are going and adjust our approach as your needs evolve, so therapy continues to feel relevant and helpful.
