She believes in offering a warm, empathic, non-judgmental space in order to collaboratively create an individualized treatment plan that takes into account cultural, biological, psychological, and social factors. With a strong interest in therapy, she often implements ego-supportive and insight-oriented therapy during follow-up visits.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Alexandra Baluna practices at Talkiatry, a patient-centered, online psychiatry practice. Talkiatry providers specialize in medication management and treat a wide range of mental health conditions. They take a personalized approach to care, ensuring that treatment is rooted in a strong patient-provider relationship and a responsible, evidence-based approach to prescribing. We know that every mental health journey is unique, and we’re here to make yours feel manageable and supported at every step.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a comprehensive first visit, where you and your provider will discuss your goals, medical history, and what brings you to treatment. From there, you’ll work with your provider to create a care plan that feels right for you, which may include medication, therapy, or both. If your provider recommends medication, they’ll walk you through your options—our goal is always to help you make informed choices about your care. You’ll meet with your provider regularly for follow-up visits to check in, adjust your care as needed, and make sure you feel supported in your journey.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

Dr. Baluna was wonderful. Very kind and went the extra mile.
Just so kind and thoughtful. I've never engaged with a psychiatrist that actually cares about me as a full human and made suggestions beyond the scope of medication. Can't recommend highly enough.

It felt like opening up to a friend I've only known for a very little amount of time and they weren't ready for what I said. That's on me, for wanting to be honest, and for making them uncomfortable, but at no time did I believe that this person actually has a doctorate and years of experience. I have half a mind to report fraud. Never again. She couldn't shut me up fast enough and recommend I go anywhere else. Her office seemed to be a laundry room and she was on the verge of tears telling me to sort stuff out with any other doctors and wait for a referral and yet the referral was databases I have already found. 0/10. I've taken a screenshot of this and plan to post it everywhere I can since I'm receiving a notice telling me I might be rejected for details. I received no useful information after my appointment. I was told the consultation would take an hour and I was pushed so much earlier than that. 0/10 "Doctor". 0/10 service.
