“I thoroughly enjoyed being Dr. Electris' patient. I felt understood, seen and respected in our sessions, and most definitely experienced personal growth as a result of our time together. Not only did Dr. Electris help me better articulate my issues with anxiety and self esteem, we also explored and discovered coping methods that I still use to this day. I could not recommend Dr. Electris enough. ”

Getting to know Dr. Alexandra Electris

Before scheduling an appointment, please be aware that I am not in-network with insurance companies. Please read more about this under my practice, Thalassa Psychological Services. I am also currently accepting in-person patients in my Westchester office only, and plan to work remotely with Manhattan patients until likely the fall 2021, when I will re-open a Manhattan office. I have a wide range of experience treating adults, adolescents, and children. I am dedicated to helping individuals address challenges and life issues, facilitating understanding and an enhanced awareness of the self, in an empathic, creative, and collaborative way. I realize it takes courage to begin treatment, as psychotherapy is hard work and involves a significant commitment of time, energy, and money. I pay attention deeply to the moral, spiritual, and cultural values of my patients and their families. I work with you to tailor the treatment to your individual needs. I participate actively in the therapy process, and do so by providing a thorough initial evaluation and feedback, as well as establishing mutually agreed upon goals. I have had a broad range of training and work experience, including adult and child/adolescent psychiatric units, a domestic violence shelter, community and school clinics, and a substance abuse clinic. After completing my Ph.D. in clinical psychology, I provided assessment and crisis intervention for patients of all ages with acute psychiatric needs, who were receiving treatment on medical units in a city hospital. In my practice, I often treat individuals struggling with a variety of difficulties including anxiety and depression, relationships, medical illness, employment, and school problems.

In-network insurances

Dr. Alexandra Electris is not in-network with any insurances

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $400 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $350-400 for 60 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork

More information on payments and coverage

Although I currently don’t have sliding scale availability, I’m open to providing a thorough consultation and matching you with a provider I supervise at a reduced rate. I would be indirectly involved in the treatment and would join sessions every few months, and would oversee the treatment.

I saw Alexia for 4 years and she changed my life for the better. She helped me get to a point where I understood myself better, was emotionally healthier and had improved my interpersonal relationships considerably. She is generous with her time, her emails are always courteous and she was incredibly flexible and understanding of my many scheduling challenges. She is kind, patient, smart, empathetic, genuine and respectful. Apparently I spoke of her often because I had comments from my friends saying things like “your therapist sounds really awesome.” Could not recommend her more. Everyone should invest in therapy, and you’d be lucky to spend that time with Alexia.
I saw Dr. Electris for two years and would have stayed on as a patient had I not moved out of state. It was my first therapy experience and with her help I made massive strides in understanding myself that have made a lasting, positive impact on my life. Dr. Electris was incredibly thoughtful but also rigorous in her recommendations for my treatment.
