Getting to know Alexandra Pales

My practice and career focus have become centered around trauma, complicated trauma, PTSD, and treatment-resistant depression. I enjoy helping those who haven't found success with usual medication and therapy approaches. I also offer Spravato in-office to patients who suffer from treatment-resistant depression. My approach to mental well-being is one where I view you as an entire person, not just a cluster of symptoms to address. I try to connect with you on a personal level and move toward the best health we can achieve together. By understanding your goals, we will develop a treatment plan collaboratively, with your preferences and wishes in mind. I work with clients aged 18-65, addressing concerns including depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, bipolar disorder, and others. I am body positive and enjoy supporting and working with the kink, poly, and LGBTQ communities. I offer psychedelic-assisted therapy for those interested, as well as ketamine-assisted therapy in-office alongside Spravato. My practice balances medication management with therapy. I believe providers can give the best care when a therapy component is included and sessions are not restricted to a 10-minute visit. Together, this provides a stronger foundation for achieving your goals and processing past trauma or internal conflicts under guidance. I hold a Master's in Nursing from the University of Saint Francis, a Bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago, and an Associate's degree from City Colleges of Chicago, Harry S Truman College.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to work with the whole person, and learn about their history and journey to getting here today. I work with individuals collaboratively to establish a treatment plan that we both feel good with. Looking at things comprehensively including sleep, appetite, support, lifestyle patterns, nutrition, and others. I've been described as down to earth, empathetic, authentic, and informative. I enjoy making sure the individual feels empowered to make the best decisions for their care, to have the information and education to make informed decisions. My career has been focused on helping others through early wounds and trauma, attachment and self worth. I blend therapy with medication management as needed.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We coordinate regarding fit and goals via email before scheduling the intake appointment. We meet for a one hour intake appointment to go over history, treatment goals, and treatment planning. Follow up appointments are 30 minutes, and vary in timing. We may meet weekly, every other week, monthly, or quarterly depending on how well you're doing.

Alex cleaned up my med list. Things were a mess after years and changing meds and trying a bunch of stuff that didn't work.
This is the first time that someone is actually listening to me and not just throwing medication at me.
This is just another annoying online thing to take up my time. Who cares about the office decor?

Feeling good for the first time in a while. Alex is good to work with. Smart, explains things, and makes sure you understand your options. I prefer working with nurse practitioners more because they seem to listen and take their time more.
I have been seeing Alex for the better part of my adult life and could not be more grateful for her. She has helped me through many major life events. The progress I have made in my time with her has been life-changing. She is transparent, respectful and maintains a professional environment while keeping her clients sense of safety a priority.
I really enjoy working with an Alexandra. She is very kind Very patient Very knowledgeable Our sessions are extremely helpful
My first visit here was a pleasant surprise and much different from my past experiences at a psychiatrist's office, the atmosphere is really cozy and it's the perfect place to relax, I even got to meet Bruce the pug ?? and I actually look forward to my meetings every month. The relaxing environment makes it a place I enjoy coming to.
A phenomenally positive experience. Alex is attentive, compassionate, and took time to explain my new treatment plan in detail. I highly recommend her to anyone needing help with understanding their condition or treatment.

Alex made me feel very comfortable with sharing things about myself in order to get proper treatment, provides a very non -judgemental perspective and was able to prescribe me a medication that is helping me to live my life more fully. I would definitely recommend Alex to people who are looking for a doctor who will actually get to know you and give genuine care without making you feel like just another patient.
I cannot recommend Alex Pales highly enough. The accessibility offered cannot be found anywhere else in my experience. I cannot imagine going to another provider after seeing someone so knowledgeable, helpful, and willing to truly listen and take time to truly know their clients.
