Alexis Baird

Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MA
"As a dual-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience, I bring a comprehensive, whole-person approach to mental health care. Drawing on advanced training in Functional Psychiatry, I go beyond symptom management to explore the underlying factors that contribute to each patient's unique presentation. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, women's mental health, substance use, and dual diagnosis. I firmly believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to psychiatric care — every treatment plan I develop is individualized, evidence-based, and built around you. My practice is grounded in a non-judgmental, collaborative environment where patients feel genuinely heard and understood. Whether you are navigating a new diagnosis, managing a complex condition, or simply looking for a provider who takes the time to truly listen — I welcome you. I provide telehealth appointments and am currently accepting new patients."

What should a new client know about working with you?

"From our very first appointment, my goal is to understand you as a whole person — not just your symptoms. I take time to review your full history, ask the questions others may have overlooked, and build a treatment plan that actually fits your life. I specialize in complex presentations and genuinely enjoy the cases that require creative, individualized thinking. I am straightforward, honest, and will always give you my clinical opinion while respecting your autonomy and personal goals. You can expect a provider who is accessible, thorough, and genuinely invested in your progress. I don't believe in cookie-cutter psychiatry — if something isn't working, we adjust. Your care should evolve as you do. Most importantly, there is nothing you can bring to me that I haven't seen or heard before. My practice is a judgment-free space, and I take that seriously."

What is your typical process for working with clients?

"My first appointment with a new patient is always an intake session — and I treat it as the most important appointment we will have together. I take my time getting to know you as fully as possible, gathering a comprehensive history that goes beyond the standard checklist. I want to understand not just your symptoms but your story — what's brought you here, what you've tried before, what has and hasn't worked, and most importantly, what your goals are. I share mine as well — I believe treatment works best when we are genuinely aligned on where we're headed. We will discuss treatment approaches openly and collaboratively. I will never push a direction you're not comfortable with and I always explain my clinical thinking so you can make informed decisions about your own care. The intake is also simply a chance for us to get to know each other. The therapeutic relationship matters enormously to me — I want you to leave that first appointment feeling heard, understood, and cautiously optimistic about what's ahead. From there, we build together."
