About Dr. Alexis Holmes
Dr. Alexis Holmes is a board-certified dermatologist known for her compassionate and personalized approach to care.
Dr. Holmes, a native to the Philadelphia area, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University’s School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program. While at Rutgers, Dr. Holmes received numerous honors in recognition of her academic excellence, most notably induction to Phi Beta Kappa and The Matthew Leydt Society. Following her undergraduate studies in biology, economics, nutrition and chemical education, she went on to obtain her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine where she was the recipient of the prestigious Twenty-First Century Scholar award.
After medical school, Dr. Holmes completed a dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, the top-ranked dermatology residency program in the country. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she received extensive training in complex medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, and pediatric dermatology from world-renowned experts. In addition, Dr. Holmes enhanced her expertise by completing a two-year program focused on patient safety and high-quality care delivery ultimately earning a certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Quality Improvement.
Today, Dr. Holmes takes a thoughtful approach to managing a wide range of conditions that affect the skin, hair, and nails. In partnership with her patients, Dr. Holmes is dedicated to providing high-quality and evidence-based dermatologic care.

Horrible...I made my appointment with Alexis Holmes, MD several weeks in advance. I arrived before my 4:10pm appointment. The receptionist informed that Dr. Holmes was stuck in Europe. Nobody contacted me prior to my appointment that Dr. Holmes wouldn't be in the office. My mother has stage 4 kidney cancer and congestive heart failure. My time is extra limited. So the fact the receptionist didn't offer any solution to my dilemma, I found the entire experience with the organization very unprofessional and disorganized. I will not recommend this organization to anyone I know.

As a middle aged AA woman, I was specifically looking for a POC to discuss my skin concerns. Dr. Holmes was very thorough and even talked about places skin cancer could hide on black skin. I have a previous full body skin exam 2 years ago by another provider and that person overlooked areas that Dr. Holmes made sure to examine. She was also very pleasant and easy to talk to. I will be back!

First off everything was great. The office was immaculate. The service was great. Unfortunately, I was late looking for a parking space. But I was still seeing which I greatly appreciated it because I didn’t inconvenience other people with their appointments around mine. The doctor was lovely very knowledgeable. This was the second dermatologist I’m seeing in a space of 6 months and I was very happy I chose her! She was positively different from my first doctor and I will be going back. Dr Holme’s staff was friendly and welcoming, but still very professional. As someone who gets anxious in medical settings it was very helpful to feel like I was having a human conversation and not just giving answers to someone that’s just ‘doing their job’. Shoutout to Isha (assistant). When talking to Dr Holmes, she was very thorough, with her diagnosis and documenting everything. And she explained it all to me in non-jargonistic language afterwards. I am quite inquisitive, as i have a medical background and she listened to my concerns and questions at the end attentively and answered everything clearly. I left with a lot of clarity and optimism just because of her attitude and the interaction with her. A minor complaint is that the front desk upstairs wasn’t manned but I didn’t have to wait long to be seen.

Travis, the medical assistant, was professional, kind, and attentive; making me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Holmes was absolutely amazing! She was thorough, patient, and explained everything in clear, layman’s terms while also taking the time to walk me through the “why” behind her process, procedures, and prescriptions. Her approach was not only highly professional but also incredibly personable, making it easy to trust her recommendations. As a woman of color, I especially appreciated how thoughtful and considerate she was in addressing my specific needs and concerns. Both Travis and Dr. Holmes created an environment that was warm, informative, and reassuring. I would 100% recommend Dr. Holmes to anyone looking for a dermatologist, and especially to women of color seeking a provider who truly listens, educates, and cares!

what stood out for me was they asked for a debit card payment of 120,00 and your insurance card. never knew i would need extra money after providing insurance card. this was never mention until you arrived for your visit. WHY

I ask alot of questions, and Dr. Holmes didn't seem to mind at all. She even encouraged it. That's rare in doctors these days. I'd recommend her to anyone who wants answers, and not fast fires.

Overall I had a fantastic experience. Everyone was helpful when I walked in even though I forgot my insurance card at home. Dr. Alexis was really sweet and treated the spots on my hands really quickly. I really thought it would hurt more than I did.
