Sinai School of Medicine in New York and he completed his Residency in Urology at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. Dr. Shtainer holds a position of Clinical Instructor at The Albert Einstein School of Medicine and he is an attending Urologist at NYH-Cornell Weill and Beth Israel Medical Centers. He just read my results never tell me how to improve or offer any help
Visited as a new patient. The staff are very nice and welcoming with genuine smiles. I was seen earlier than my actual appointment time which was a big plus. The doctor came in and reviewed my recent blood and urine results quickly and efficiently. He sat away from me at his desk area across from the exam table looking and typing in his computer. He asked smart questions and specifically about symptoms etc and timeline of how they appeared etc. After that was done, I gave a urine sample. The doctor came back and he never truly did a face to face or felt my pelvic area on top to see where I felt pressure or pain so there was no exam per se, rather he again went off by his computer. If you are seeking warmth, compassion and a face to face type dialogue, you may be disappointed. He is to the point and matter of fact. The doctor did order a sono test but I felt he didn't really believe I had suffered from Interstitial Cystitis, which I had years back. He asked pointedly was I sure the bladder showed as abnormal back then and said many think they may have IC but he then does a cystoscopy and the bladder ends up being normal. I found that to be a bit odd. For a general urologist, this doctor is fine. If you are a woman however, you may want to seek a female urologist or urogynecologist if you need someone who specializes more in female urology issues and IC.

The appointment was easy to make. Dr Shtainer was very professional and made several calls to my previous doctors to get the past results. He is very thorough.

He doesnt spend much TIME with you-- Does what he thinks is appropriate-which may or may not be the source of entire problem. Does not always take urine. Did minimal blood work. Kind of RUDE/BLUNT to me about a very embarrassing issue that was not my fault. (not PC friendly).

Great guy - smart, practical - to the point
Too quick. In and out without really hearing my concerns. Spent maybe four minutes actually examining me and then just wrote a script.
He was very kind and welcoming and definitely calmed me down since I had been very anxious about my condition. He gave me all the information and was very accommodating and thorough.

I was seen first time in this office due to severe kidney stone pain. Dr. Shtainer was able to treat my pain and arrange for a CT scan. I avoided half a day wait in the ER. I was very satisfied and will return.

I have been visiting this office for several months and I am very pleased with Dr Shtainer. Although I originally came for a second opinion, I decided to stay here. This doctor always looks for the least invasive treatment. This avoided me surgery.
Honestly I didn't like that he rushed me and didn't like what he had to say. It was a waste of an appointment.
