Getting to know Ali Khan

I work with adults who’ve been living with anxiety, depression, or ADHD long enough that it’s started affecting work, relationships, or just getting through the day. I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner offering telehealth visits throughout Connecticut, focused on medication management with some CBT worked in when it’s useful. I take evaluations seriously and ask a lot of questions before recommending anything, since the right treatment depends on the full picture, not just the symptom list. I’m in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Anthem BCBS, and Carelon.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a thorough approach to evaluations, expect me to ask a lot of questions about your history, your symptoms, and what’s already been tried, because the right treatment depends on your full picture. This whole process is meant to feel collaborative: I’ll walk you through my thinking and your options at each step, not just hand you a prescription and send you on your way. Follow-ups are lighter, just checking in on how things are going and adjusting as needed. I keep things warm and conversational. I want to make sure you leave feeling like you were actually heard, not rushed through.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start with a full evaluation, usually around 60 minutes. I want a complete picture of your symptoms, your history, and anything you’ve already tried before, not just the headline version. From there, we’ll talk through your options together and land on a plan that actually makes sense for your life. Early on, follow-ups are usually every 2 to 4 weeks or even weekly if indicated. Once you’re feeling stable, we’ll space visits out to monthly or longer, just checking in and adjusting along the way. Every visit builds on the last one, so nothing gets repeated from scratch, and you’ll always know what we’re working toward next.
